Hyundai has no plans to produce a Genesis coupe with the TAU 4.6 V8 borrowed from the sedan. It doesn't "apparently" fit. Hyundai has generally said the coupe was not designed to fit the V8. Sorry to burst your bubble. This is not to say they may one day have a rwd v8 coupe. They have just not annouced any plans that I am aware of.

IMO there is definitely a way to fit the v8 in the Genesis coupe. I think Hyundai is not doing it for a couple of reasons. One, they might want to scope out the popularity of the current Genesis coupe models before expanding their line to three engines, playing it safe. Two, Hyundai (at least for now) still has a reputation to keep for being the "price is right" choice; so making a v8, performance oriented sports car would put them over the $30,000 threshold. Not saying Hyundai don't eventually want to break that image, but being as smart as they are business-wise (sticking to what works and improve step by step), it might be a few years until we see a V8 Genesis coupe.

It would be SWEEET though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)

A V8 coupe would be nice. I would like to see the swap happen. I wonder what it would be like with a TT kit on it. Just wondering... Or LS1. Lol.

Well, if you accept the argument that the Genesis Coupe is a pony car meant to compete with the Mustang and Camaro, then I think it's possible that if the Genesis Coupe is successful then Hyundai will release an even higher trim level designed to compete with the Camaro SS and Ford Mustang GT.

The Genesis Coupe 2.0 liter is easily faster than the V6 Mustang, and the Genesis Coupe 3.8 is a couple ticks faster than the V6 Camaro due to the lighter weight. The Mustang GT runs mid 13's while the Camaro SS can run 12.9 with a good driver.

I suspect Hyundai will find a way to fit the V8 in the Genesis Coupe or they may release a supercharged version of their 3.8 liter.

Genesis Coupe is not designed for the tau engine.
I remember reading an article on Automotive Engineering a few months ago about this.
When Hyundai designed Genesis coupe, the moved some parts of the subframe compared to the sedan, so they can't fit the tau unless they modify that subframe parts.
Who knows? In the next generation it may be possible.

I still think it would have made more sense if Hyundai would have offered the Genesis Coupe with the 3.3L as the base engine rather than the 2.0T.

I also still don't understand why they didn't list the V8 as an option either. I saw the comparison tests with the V6 Camaro and the V8 Mustang and the Genesis wasn't that impressive.
