:(  I collected my Tucson 2.0 petrol 12/04, I immediately suspected there was something wrong with the fuel consumption. I took it back to my dealer in 01/05 who couldn't find anything wrong with it. I too have written to David Walker who has responded asking me to wait for the results of the test off the assembly line which will be ready mid June. I can not get more than 22 mpg on a 180 mile  motorway trip much less round town. I can not afford to run this car. If they have not bought the Tucson back off me by the end of June I will take the matter up with my solicitor.
I have been miss-sold this vehicle, how they can release a car to the market in this age of environmental awareness with this low fuel consumption is beyond me.

After a run in period my 2.0 petrol gives me farily good ful consumption. was driving down to my house from the city the other day. guding a truck a had to reduce max speed to 100 km instead of 110 km/h and the fuel consumption ended up at 9.1L/100 km. The other day I drove down keeping 110 on the freewy it endend @ 9.3L/ 100km. This is a 85 km ride mostly freeway and a litle good highway with no need for using the brake pedal. so highway speeds of 70-100 km and freeway speed of 110.

keeping it upp to 110 km gives good number but if you drive at 120 or faster you burn considerbul more fuel.

See atached EPA file.

Check the emission control system. Does the car have a Check Engine Light. If it does not come on at all the car may be malfunctioning. Take it up with Hyundai. In South Africa Hyundai sell most of their vehicles up to 2007 without catalytic converter. From 1 Jan 2008 all cars are supposed to have the cat in SA.
