I am not very familiar with these cars but my best freind owns a 95
Accent 4-door HB 5-speed. about two days ago his airbag light went on
but the air bags seem to be fine, then today the Check engine light
came on. Does anyone know what could be causing this? any
ideas/solutions?

<_< I'm not so sure about the Engine light - you should go to a dealer to get that one checked out, but the air bag light should flash on and off several times when you go to start the car - if it flashes continuously, stays on, or does not flash at all, then apparently there is a fault with the airbag.

As for the engine light, you would need a code reader. But on the airbag you can check under the seats to make sure that all the wires are connected. I had to solder several wires when I replaced my seats or the airbag light stayed on.

DON'T MESS WITH THE AIR BAG SYSTEM (SRS).
Only a dealer can read the code with the scanner & switch the light off. Could be a problem with the clock-spring, or a loose contact with the bag. While he is checking for the SRS code, he can also check for the ECM code.
