Ok I have looked the site over and have a question. My 2009 Azera Limited has a ghost in it. Totally randomly the TPMS (letters) light just comes on and stays on just as randomly. I took it in and the tech said there were several self clearing codes but non specific. He asked me if I had a air freshener plugged in... I looked at him like he needed a drug testing. He went on to explain he had another customer who had one and every time he plugged it in the TPMS would light and when he unplugged it it would go away. Nothing is plugged in or sometimes something is plugged in and it makes no difference! That light comes on whenever it wants and it is driving me batty! Other than that we LOVE the Azera. Any ideas from the techies? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/offtopic.gif) Also whose stupid idea was it to make the DVD stop playing video when you start the engine? I can see it if you put it in gear but c'mon I had to start it to charge the battery and boy do the kids yell then!!! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/bwekk.gif)

(IMG: style_emoticons/default/bwekk.gif) Hey Ibizian, I recently purchased an 08 Tiburon GT Limited...and I'm having the same problem with the TPMS Light...I've had it in the shop 4 times now, but nothing has actually been replaced. Hyundai is now taking the position that my aftermarked radio is somehow causing interference with the TPMS wireless signal. Hyundai has a Technical Service Bulliten out basically stating that electronics plugged into the cigarette lighter can cause intermittent RF interference witih the TPMS module...I find it hard to believe that my radio would cause interference though...I've contacted the maker of the radio, and their tech department told me that the radio would NOT cause any interference. Hence I'm roaming the forums for answers. Please let me know how you make out with any future repair attempts. In my research, I've found others having similar problems, but I really expected many more people to have these issues...I guess we're some of the lucky few. Also, Hyundai will tell you that driving near an airport / military installation / police & fire station, high power lines, etc can make the light come on temporarily due to powerful radio waves disrupting the signal.

Um ok well I suppose the Koreans have managed to outsmart all the other car makers that have TPMS and perfected their systems! Because I have had a German car and an American car that never received any interference from ANYTHING... Except low air of course! I wonder how it is that they managed to get an after market radio to do an impossible trick but cant get their own system working!!! Instead of sending out a TSP telling us to not plug anything into the power outlet they installed for our use they actually FIX their problem!!!

That is why I've filed a suit against them for breach of warranty...we'll see how that goes...

(IMG: style_emoticons/default/bwekk.gif) I've had the TPMS System Failure come in for five to ten minutes at a time about once a week since June. No explanation. I may have items plugged into auxiliary power, but they were also plugged in well before I started getting these TPMS System Failure warnings. The next time I am at a Hyundai dealer I'll have them check on it. Bud H

Any other devices installed in the vehicle?? Radar detector, Highway transponder?? Gate pass?? All of these things can cause interferrance in the system, also if you brought into a dealer what codes did they document on your paperwork??

Azera 2009, 24,000 miles I also have been recently having the same intermittent problem with the TPMS Failure light coming on then going off. Had it back to dealer twice now, this morning being the latest. They have checked it out, they see the non-specific error codes, re-register the sensors, etc. Service tech indicated to me that possible radio frequencies/transmissions, power lines, etc. may be causing the glitch. Kinda thought that was funny because a couple of times the lite went on was when I was driving through the Mohave Dessert a few weeks back. There was appeared to be NOTHING around. I've had the light come on ( then go off after a few minutes) in various locations, western Pennsylvania, various states thru the mid-west and west, driving between NY & Mass. Most recently, the day after I first brought in for service to look at the problem. (They re-set, re-registered, etc.) After reading through the comments here, It occurred to me the one unique thing in the car since I got it ... EZPass!
I've had phone charger & GPS plugged in on previous multi-state trips with no problems. Prior to my most recent trips I didn't have the EZPass module/Transponder in the car. Since I've had the EZPass module in the car, I have been having random TPM System failures. I know these modules send/receive RF signals don't know the specs, or the freq. they operate on, but it's possible the EZPass module (perhaps in conjunction with GPS, cell phones, chargers) may cause enough interference to randomly trigger the TPMS Failures.
Other than this quirk, we think it's a great road car, economical, comfortable and roomy. This is my second Hyundai, previously had a Sonata. Quality measures up to previous owned Honda Accords and a 5 series BMW. They make a good vehicle! I wont own Detroit Iron ever again!

QUOTE (GoodOmens @ Oct 16 2009, 12:44 PM) I would like to add my 09 elantra has the same problem. Seems to be a issue with their senors/receivers then.
Hopefully a fix will be found .... I'm fortunate (I guess) that my 2009 didn't come with this feature. Now I'll only have to worry about my knees malfunctioning while checking my own tire pressure the old fashioned way. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I've had this happen a few times. It has only happened when I was sitting still idling for more than 4 or 5 minutes. I could turn off and restart or just start driving and the light went off.

I have a Sonata 2010 and the TPMS light came on. My dealer (Tim) told me that if I have one low tire the TPMS light will come on. If I have more than one low tire the tpms symbol will come on. Has anyone ever heard this before? Why does Tim tell me the book is wrong? (I read the owner's manual that said if the TPMS light came on it was a malfunction in the system itself.) This ghost is killing me.

Hi marsar4171 and ibizian
Same trouble with TPMS and got the same airport/aftermarket radio story. However, my aftermarket radio is same brand as original equipment, KENWOOD and I have lived near the same airport for 1.5 years. My problem seems to have increased since I added the HF Bluetooth kit for the Kenwood. I've had satellite radio, HD radio, and GPS all installed at the same time before with no problems. Ever since the bluetooth kit, it has come on randomly anywhere from 4 days apart to 4 weeks apart. BTW, it is a Kenwood bluetooth kit too. Can it be reset by end user?
