Hi agree but that should not allow bad dealers to do as they please, it seems to me they are one of the weak links in this chain, they should be answerable to someone. Like i have allready said the dealers i am dealing with are p-ss poor. You can see why british companys go down the pan.

Dealers seem to forget that we will be wanting to go back to them in one, two, who-knows how many years for trade-in, servicing and so on so perhaps they are shooting themselves through the foot, eh? Regards........

Spirit Hyundai - Riverside Retail Park - Northampton - NN3 9HZCouldn't fault them. Friendly atmosphere. Approachable. Non-forceful with the sale. Open to offers and haggling. Really decent bunch all round I thought. Guy who dealt with us was friendly enough, bit of a a stereotypical Cockney car dealer lol (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) But without the negatives of that stereotype ;) Sound enough. Will be taking our i10 back to them every service for sure.

Cars2 in Barnsley - avoid them like the plague. A catalogue of - at best - utter incompetence, and - at worst - lies.
Contacted them back at the start of June, wanting a basic red Classic. I was told it could be September before it was available but they had a red ES that a customer had ordered and then changed their mind on, and that I should come in as quickly as possible to put a deposit on it. Was told I'd have to accept the X-Guard or whatever it's called cos it had been ordered by the customer who'd initially ordered this car, and that it was applied before the car arrived in the country, so I couldn't cancel it (yes, alarm bells rang for me, too, but it didn't seem like I had the option of cancelling it).
8th June - went in, paid a £200 deposit to the salesman, Lee, and was told it would most likely be available mid-July. Lee said they'd keep me informed.
Over the following weeks, I called them numerous times, never managing to speak to Lee. I seemed to speak to everyone else there, though, and left numerous messages asking someone to call me back to let me know what was happening. Only one call was returned, by someone else, who didn't actually have any information for me.
Eventually spoke to someone at the end of July who told me my car would be ready for collection on July 31st so I called my insurer and arranged for my existing insurance to be transferred to the new car on that date. When I arrived at Cars2, I sat around for ages waiting for someone to come and talk to me. I got the feeling that something was wrong. And it was.
Apparently, according to Neil - the head sales bloke, apparently, who only came out to talk to me when I told Lee that if he didn't, I'd go into his office to talk to *him* - my car was still on its way. But I could have a silver one if I wanted (and pay the extra for the metallic paint!). No thanks. I ordered a red one. I was told that 'someone' had had a telephone conversation with me over the previous couple of days, during which I'd said I'd come in to collect my car on AUGUST 15TH!!! No I bloody hadn't! I asked Neil which salesman I'd had this conversation with and he didn't know. So I said 'Well, let's ask them all and find out, shall we?' His response, almost word for word, was: 'I'm not prepared to ask them - and they'll only deny it anyway!' So, Neil, you're saying that your salesmen will lie, are you??
'I'm not here to have a debate with you,' Neil said rudely and unhelpfully. 'Your car won't be ready until the 15th'
(In a conversation with one of the salesmen as I was leaving, I was told that Neil had cocked up the ordering, and had ordered two silver ones instead of two red ones, hence the non-existence of *my* car and the offer of a silver one).
After much arguing, they agreed to give me a courtesy car (an i20) until the 18th August - yes, the delivery date was now, mysteriously, the 18th - which cost me an extra £40 in insurance.
Lee rang last week to say my car would be in on Monday 17th (yesterday) and I told him to call me, 'one way or the other', yesterday. Of course there was no call until today. It seems the car's there now, waiting for me. They still have to apply the interior X-Guard (despite having been told before that it was applied before the car reached the country) so I'm picking it up (hopefully) in a couple of hours. I'll let you know if it actually happens.
Is it any wonder that car dealers have a reputation for being deceitful, lying ****s? If I hadn't got so far through the process before realising what incompetent chimps they were, I'd have cancelled the order and gone somewhere else. But they know they have i10 buyers over a barrel.
Avoid these people like the plague - they will say anything to get you to buy!!
A couple of (probably obvious!) tips:
pay as little deposit as possible every time you have a conversation with someone at your dealership, make a note of the date, the person's name (and let them know you're making a note) and exactly what they say.

Jesus Sparky, what a Mickey Mouse act they seem! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Our guy had been in the business for years and you could tell. He even kept his own spreadsheet that he'd made (nothing to do with Hyundai) noting the customer and what they'd ordered and when it was due. I was asking him about it and he was telling me the colour coding (highlighting) he was using was key to what stage they were at i.e. car on order, car due in, car in showroom waiting for collection. He highlighted us yellow for car due in (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) He was certainly professional and you could tell he enjoyed his job and genuinely wanted to see you get the right car for the right price.

Yeah - what a malarkey, eh??? Sheesh! Still, only took an hour once I got there and now I'm the smiling, very proud owner of a gorgeous red i10!! Yay me!! And I'd forgotten, from the test drive, how high the driving position is - love it! Feels like you're driving a tiny, nippy truck - LOL! And boy is it nippy! Sparky xx

QUOTE (SparkyMark @ Aug 18 2009, 08:00 AM) pay as little deposit as possible This interested me. Did you buy one under scrappage? I did, and I didn't have to leave any deposit at all at my local Hyundai dealer. Probably because it isn't even in the country yet! I expect to be asked for one so that they can register it.

I've dealt with two Hyundai dealerships over the past few days:
Brown's Hyundai Manassas, VA: Avoid! Initial complaint was when I went looking for a new 09 Sonata. Called the dealer and was told over the phone that they had "plenty" of new 09's in stock. Arrived and was shown loaners they were selling as new (with prices almost at sticker) The window stickers were even taped back up into the window! These cars had nearly 3000 miles! When told I wanted a new 09 with no miles I was shown a 2010 and was told it was a 09. When I pointed this out I was then told the only 09's on the lot were the loaners. When I was quoted a price for a 09 Elantra, I was given above MSRP if you then added back in the cash rebates and clunker deals. I told them no thanks and walked - not even worth dealing with.
Fairfax Hyundai - Fairfax, VA: Great! This was were I ended up buying from. Was able to get below their "no haggle price" which was already 1,500 below MSRP AFTER taxes and fees (again adding back in the rebate and my clunker deal). Financed through them to save an additional $400 for the college program. I was able to get a rate 1% below the pre-approved rate I had brought in from another bank. Also, once I told the finance manager I didn't want to finance more then I was putting down in cash, he didn't hassle me for warranties or insurance. Now if the service department is just as good this seems like a great dealership. Apparently this location was one of the original Hyundai dealerships (from back in the 70's) so there seems to be a reason it's still around.

Marhofer of Green - Akron, OH, US 330.644.3500
I've bought two cars from them, one in late 05, and one in 07. While going to any car dealership is painful to some degree, Marhofer is where I will continue to go in the future, and will send both friends and family to.
They use set prices clearly posted in every windshield, you chose to buy it for that or move on. Of course, things like trade-in, financing, dealer-addons - you can of course quibble over those all you like!
The dealer's lot is available, and lit after hours so people can look at cars after hours all they want, and see the prices. This is the one dealership that actually offers your soda or water before you even land on a car!
My primary reason why I like the place is the service people! Very nice, plain speaking, helpful - very easy to work with, even if you're unhappy!
I rate the place as a whole at 8 out of 10.

what does make me laugh when thinking about it, you get more info from play or amazon when ordering a £3 DVD - such as packing, dispatch, etc than you do ordering a £7000-£10000 car
anyway, Belmont garage in surrey has been good, did have to go in to get the info i wanted about it being at sea and a estimated date, over the phone just seemed like too much trouble.
but very nice sales team, no pushing. no extras thou with scrap scheme

How difficult would it be for Hyundai to make a phone call / send an email every time status changed on your order, or once a month just to keep in touch and re-assure you everything is still ok (even if they don't really know anything - I think most people just like to have some contact after spening all that money).
