ok guys, I think it'd be useful for us to rate the service we got from our dealers, and give people advanced warning of goo / bad serivce.
our of 10, I give:
Consitution Motors (Norwich) 4/10
I had a pleasent test drive, but reluctant to seel me a red i10 as they are "as rare as hens teeth" and "you'll be lucky to see one before Spetember". Also only offered £2000 scrappage, when other dealers were doing £2100 and £2200. But did offer to throw in mudflaps - that I'd have to fit myself. Poor people skills.
Turners (Bury St Edmunds - also a branch in Ipswich) 6/10
Bit misleading over deliver time, but when I asked to speak to the manager, they did make an effor tot give me an accurate delivery date - which was very accurate in the end. Becasue of misleading information, I can't say if this was innocent or outright lies. Handover was great, and got a call a week after to check all ok. If it wasn't for inital dissapointment ovet delivery dates, they'd have got 8/10. Would use again. Good peopel skills....communiccation issues with Hyundai possibly.

Good to hear - it's who I've used for my i10. Only ordered it on the 11th, and was told then it could be end of September, but couldn't be definite, that it would 'go quiet for a while', and that they would let me know when they had a delivery date. Salesman was very helpful, and emailled me the order number as proof it was ordered! Obviously cannot give a rating until I have the car, but happy so far.

QUOTE (iglad @ Jul 23 2009, 04:26 PM) I think it's a bit unfair to actually start as you put it naming and shaming dealers in the forum. The supply chain is really out of their hands as they are reliant on Hyundai in India for their supplies and as we know demand has been sky high. I agree that to name a dealer for perceived poor service is a bit unfair under these circumstances. However, without actually naming, I must say that my initial enquiries at one local dealer left me dismayed- he insisted that the Hyundai scrappage discount was just £2000 in spite of my knowing otherwise, then tried to persuade me to buy an ES when I had told him that I was interested in the Comfort model, then finally he told me that he could get me a metallic Comfort quicker than a red one, which I now realise was almost certainly a load of bull! I made my excuses and left the showroom! My next step was to visit Clint Hyundai in Liverpool, where the two salesmen Phil and Chris were refreshing in their honesty regarding the long wait ahead. I placed my order for a red Comfort, paid my deposit and waited patiently for 10 weeks until I got "the call." On collection day last week, the car was immaculate inside and out and at no time during the process was I pestered to take GAP insurance, unwanted accessories, service plans or any other extras. My experience was good- I didn't hassle them and they in turn didn't hassle me, so Clint Hyundai Liverpool gets 9/10.Very pleased with the i10- despite the wait, I now know I made the right choice. My only regret is that I didnt buy a Style...

Simonstone's BristolHonest about the length of wait for a car, allowed me 2 test drives on 2 different days to make sure I was happy with what I was ordering, gave me no paperwork to take away except for the deposit receipt which I thought quite weird. Communication as to when the car was actually coming was poor. I rang up finally to be told it would be ready in 4 days. At that point I was offered a choice of registration marks. They have a 7 day free drive away insurance arrangment with Aviva which was handy. The car had a full tank of fuel. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Happy with them.

QUOTE (stupet11 @ Jul 23 2009, 09:26 PM) I admit delivery dates may be out of there hands.....but gees folks....these sales people....a lot of them woudl indeed sel ltheir own grandmother....why are you all **** about naming and shaming the dishonest ones? Because these guys are just doing a job- selling cars. Maybe they are incompetent with one customer, but with another they might actually be the bee's knees- it's all subjective. However, your argument has persuaded me to name the oily and untrustworthy dealership that I encountered on my first enquiries into the scrappage offers- If anyone from Hyundai is reading this- Mike in Southport needs to be retired soon.

I think its unfair also to comment on delivery times and estimates from dealers, if they cant give you an accurate delivery date then its obviously beyond their control, If you went to order your car and he said " i cant give you an accurate delivery time maybe 2-4 months" would you still buy one? i think not, so if he says possibly end of june and it comes end of july i dont think your in much of a position to comment, 4 weeks is not a great deal, You can cancel your order then go and wait for another few weeks for a different make and model all together and the result would be the same. If you would rather go to a different manufacture because their cars are already in stock, then that is your decision but are you going to be happy with your second choice because you want it NOW!
My opinion is give the guys and girls a break, demand is high and as a result there will be waiting lists, ships get delayed cars get damaged, It is worth waiting for!!
My dealer was fantastic and the waiting time he told me was roughly accurate at two months! Im not going to name him as i would be a hypocrite to my previous paragraph!!
As i have stated this is MY opinion only! Please no bad comments your are entitled to your own opinion and i will read them with as much interest as my own!

dealer was hyundai doncaster south yorkshire dealer was not pushy and let us drive car on our own on two occasions and then let us take one to try parking it in a shopping center. very brave I thought? i20 1.2 comfort orderd 13th july. told there were 10 unallocated on a ship that docked in 2 to 3 days. anticipated delivery 7th august So order placed and deposit paid. Dealer rang on 22nd july. Car had arrived at Dealers. even they were surprised? Collected car on 24th july. salesman did not really try to push anything I did not want and was accurate on finance. got £2000 scrapage and extra £565 off list. collection was spoilt by idiot in the compound pressure washing a car and water overspray drifted onto my new car. on 18th august the side lights and instrument lights stopped working. the next day it was taken to doncaster hyundai for 11:00 a.m. Someone came to look at it straight away and fixed the problem. it was a fuse not seated. I was on my way in 30 mins. Well Done Hyundai Doncaster. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)

Good thread. I have recently ordered an i10 and saw the dealership I used mentioned a couple of times so thought I'd balance out the opinion.
Constitution Motors (Norwich)
Booking a test drive was very easy. Got the keys and took it for a spin, no fuss.
Was given a price list including the scrappage offer and it was the same figures as the Hyundai website (£2100 discount for mine) so there was no debate over price.
Ordering was easy, tried to sell me some extras for the standard Hyundai price, which is a slight ripoff, but he didn't push when I turned them down. Can't blame him for trying.
They didn't know when the delivery was due exactly because it was "at sea", honest I suppose, and quoted Sept/Oct
So the only negative thing was that they didn't seem all that interested in selling me one, maybe because they didn't even have to try and they knew it. I did masses of research before ordering what will be my first new car and nothing else came close to the i10 for what I needed/wanted. I tried to get something else thrown in for free or a discount to make it at least feel like I got a deal but they laughed.....they had a parking lot crammed full of new i10s long since sold. I was told they didn't really need the business as I could see, but they will give me enough petrol to get home.
So I can't rate them just yet as there was nothing great about them but also nothing terrible. It all depends on the delivery. (note to dealers, maybe get a bit creative? bunch of flowers for my wife?) I'll be taking along a friend who likes to criticise the car when I pick it up so he can try to find problems with it. The number of minor issues people on the forums have had are concerning, although they are probably the few unlucky ones and they all seem to get resolved by the dealers anyway.

I doubt that car salesmen take 'random days off', but you have to bear in mind that most of them have to work at weekends, 'cos that's when most folks go to look at cars. Few people want to work 7 days a week, so salesmen often have to take days off on a rota during the week, which may be the reason they are unavailable on certain days. As regards dealerships pre-ordering cars, many manufacturers operate incentive schemes, so the bigger dealerships and chains will order cars in quantity as they then get a bonus or 'kickback' if you like, for selling a certain number of vehicles in a quarter. As the i10 is a pretty good seller, most dealerships are finding that they can sell the pre-ordered quota before it even docks, which is good, but remember that the i10 is the smallest and cheapest car Hyundai market here, so dealer profit will be less, especially as dealer and Government give £1000 each towards the scrappage discount, so that's £1000 off the dealers profit for a start, which is why they are not generous in 'freebies' or discounts,- you can't have it ALL ways! I have nothing to do with the car trade myself, but my son does, so I now also understand a bit more about the dealership side of things. Having said that, you cetainly can't knock the value for money of the i10, especially when you compare it with the opposition, which is why Hyundai have found themselves unable to keep up with demand, so I'd say to all the 'worried-on-the-waiting-list',- "It really IS worth waiting for", so hang in there, I've had mine for 9 months now, and I'm really happy with it, so I'm sure you all will be too. LC.

I was lucky as my dealer told me as I placed my order 6 May two weeks before the scrappage deal came in and I picked up my car on the 4 July which was about 8weeks. was I unhappy no not really and the dealership was hyundai itself, I got my good scrappage discount and the PDI was done and it was mine. I have to say the cars are selling themselves, the dealer i am awaiting my car is useless. I certainly would not use them again, like i have said the cars because of price and scrappage allowance are selling themselves. If i performed like these dealers at work i would almost find myself out of work, they make no attempt to keep you informed and come across as not interested.
