QUOTE (i360 @ Jul 24 2009, 09:01 PM) This is what I don't understand. I bought the version from Geis Store on Ebay and the blanks wouldn't work on my 2009 Sonata. The blank was cut on a machine at Ace Hardware, but the Geis supplied blank was much thinner then the OEM Sonata key. The cut blank key only opened my glove compartment, it would not open the door or turn in the ignition. Munk I believe, had to custom cut his stock OEM key to make it work on his. I did the same but the end result was a little crappy looking, I mean having to cut and shape the key is pretty difficult. Now some here are saying they had their blanks cut from Geis and they work so I don't understand. Is my Sonata that different then theirs? Not sure but seems a little strange...... I ordered my key from the exact same seller on eBay and noticed in the auction that it stated "Please let us know your car model, year and the picture of your keyblade if your car is not listed in the left list". So at checkout, I specified that I would need the key for the 2009 Sonata. I even emailed the seller before buying it to confirm whether or not it would work for my car and he said it would. I received the key and noticed the extra blank key was thicker than the one attached to the remote. I got the extra blade cut and it works perfectly. I guess the trick is to make sure you specify that your Sonata is a 2009 otherwise it won't work.

QUOTE (i360 @ Aug 1 2009, 10:55 PM) I did, I was in contact with the seller beforehand. He was aware I had a 2009 Sonata. Perhaps i'll contact him again and see if he has one that works. I bought mine a long while back so perhaps he has since had it modified. I sent him pictures of the key blank and the OEM key against a ruler to show size difference. Thanks for the info..... No problem. Keep me posted (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

I assume I'm not the only one with this issue, but I haven't seen any other posts that deal with this. I purchased the eBay key mainly because I preferred the look over the other one, and received it today. The inside of the original remote holds the panic button, battery, and small piece of metal that contacts the positive side of the battery (see pic). The eBay remote doesn't seem to accommodate this, nor do the instructions specify anything about it - I assume it's not set up this way on all Hyundai remotes (I have an '09 Santa Fe in Canada). Right now my only option seems to be to solder the metal piece to the board, and stuff something inside (e.g. small piece of foam) to keep the battery from moving. Am I missing something? Any better ideas?

QUOTE (hamiico @ Sep 15 2009, 03:57 PM) I have to say after using the flip keys both from ebay and the koran auto imports, the ebay key is really inferior in quality. My wife uses it and its already a bit loos and just doesnt feel all that nice compared to the other 100 dollar key that i use. Just thought i would add this since i have both keys and all. In my opinion the more expensive key was worth the money. My key looks exactly like yours, except I have a red panic button and Hyundai logo. Would you mind taking some pics of the inside of your key?

QUOTE (V6 Sonata @ Sep 18 2009, 05:01 PM) Being that i have a diffrent one oredered from ebay im not sure what can be done here,I understand the issue, are you sure you both oredered the right one for the right year??? I like my ebay one yes it is kinda lose but for the price **** its fine,The KAI is way overpriced i ordered one for the **** of it and its **** i dont like it well i mean its nice and everything but $80 for what so it can feel tight??? The ebay one is just fine i think KAI needs to rethink there prices and a lot of there items.Back to the issue if i were you guys i would return and order diffrent one but am i missing something you guys are not using this for the sonata but for a santa fe from what im understanding?? What seems to work (for others - I haven't worked on mine yet) is a combination of soldering the little metal clip to the board and/or using double-sided tape to hold the battery in place. I was hoping for a little cleaner setup, but as long as it works and doesn't require much work (to keep the battery in place) going forward, I'll be happy. No, it won't be as firm and solid as an OEM key or the import key, but I still like the look, and I really just wanted to get rid of carrying extra stuff in my pocket (Hyundai key + remote).
