Hello.

I just got my 2004 Hyundai Sonata with a roof rack and ski/snowboard rack. I was able to remove the ski/snowboard rack with the special alin key / screw driver but I don't know how to remove the roof rack.

I'm not sure if all roof racks are the same but I'll desccribe mine. On each side it has a place for the key and ounce you turn it, you can pull the black plastic piece back. It works as a crank to tighten to the window frame edges. It has yellow plastic inside.

How exactly do I loosen this? I tried talkting to the dealers around here but they don't know how either, because they have never installed one.

Can anyone help me out, thanks.

Matt

It seems that U have a permanently mounted roofrack.
The installation involves drilling of holes on the roof and riveting the "base wif rubber seal".
So your dismantling process should involve removing of the rivets which could mean that U'll have to drill them out wif the appropriate sized drillbit.
Then the rest would involve patching up the holes which the panel beaters would be glad to be of service.

My suggestion is to leave them there just incase U need to go fishing or transporting ladders and such.

But then again, it might become a nice perch for birds. In time, there'll be 2 blooby lines just along side the pair of rails by u know what.
