Hi all Im a newby here and I was wondering if anybody knows if 08 and 09 headlight assemblies are interchangeable, I like the look of the 08 over the 09 model.

not 100% but I'm pretty sure its no... the 09 has a larger high beam section than the 06-08, making it thicker.

i dont think they are.. not to mention the '09s take a different bulb (H11b) than the '08s (H7)...

If you have a friend with an 08 Sonata, see if they will let you carefully "borrow" one of their headlight assemblies to see if it will fit in your car. It is very easy to remove an 08's headlight assembly, only 3 bolts (see my write up on my HID Conversion) and a power cable. That way you will know for sure if it fits! I kind of doubt it too, but it will not hurt or take much time to try. If it does fit, you can find 08 headlight assemblies all over eBay. Good luck!

that's right... the 09 only has the two bolts on top of the headlight. Probably won't fit w/o major work... not worth it IMO.

I just went to the HMA Service sight and you are correct Sir! Also, the assemblies' clips are different on the two years... See below...

You can change the headlights, but you probably need to change the bumper along with it
