I've searched the forum for a bit but could not find a similar issue as mine, but has anyone (maybe around 35000 miles) like me, experienced a creaking noise when you brake? The car typically does it after warming up, but every time I come to a complete stop, the rear of the car produces a creaking noise right before the braking completes. I brought it to Hyundai, they couldn't replicate it. So I took them for a drive myself, and was able to replicate it, however the technician had never heard or experienced this before. So far it's intermittent, but whenever it's more constant I'll bring it in again. Thanks for any info.

Only time I get that sort of noise is when I apply the brakes shortly after coming out of a car-wash, with wet rotors/pads, when they grab just a bit. Come to think of it, I don't get that squeaking sound when I brake while driving in the rain. 38,000 miles and counting...

Yeah, unless this is something other than you're describing, it's just a little funky dynamics between the pads and rotors. Usually when the pads are low and/or there is rust on the rotors.

The most likely cause is that the caliper pistons have gone south. Rebuilding the caliper pistons should be a fairly simple procedure and should be covered under warranty. The other kinds of options you have are: Replace the rotors, replace the pads (ensure that the pad clips are solid - some aftermarket pads have clips that are too weak and they can cause rattling over broken ground), and make sure the caliper bolts are torqued to spec.

These latter options are all elective and may or may not help at all. But, all of these parts are simple and can get 'slack' with age. Of course, no Azera in existence has the kind of 'age' to which I refer. My Vanden Plas does have some groaning brakes up front when I come to a slow stop, most likely due to slack caliper pistons, but it's not enough of a problem for me to pull out the calipers... at least, not yet.

Have heard of this on many vehicles. Simply remove rear brake pads and the metal shims. Clean slider surfaces of shims and perches. Re-install pads.

The rust billed up constricts the ease of the pads to slide or in this case creek.

Just a possible thought? Here in Ohio the local dealers suggest a "caliper service" every 12K or year - and it is basically re-lubing all the parts, getting all rust/dust off the calipers, etc...

Perhaps something of that nature would keep this from happening? At 60K (so far) my Tucson is completely silent in respect to the brakes and braking, plus, I am still around 40% life left on the fronts and bout 30% on the rears (they sell it by promising it will extend the brake life). All I know is I enjoy the "like new" feeling my car still has...
