Just got finished, took about an hour, a drill and some patience (first two I have).

The car is only 2.5 years old, but had a lot of hwy miles which means marks, some haze and even a paint mark where someone bumped us.

They werent restored to perfect, but it did clean them up. For $28, Id recommend this every few years.

First two are of the initial headlights (you can see marks;they are clean)

Second is after the 500 grit sand

Then two shots from the final.

Or you could buy some bulk paint protection film off Ebay. Install it and trim off the excess. Fading and chipping are now a thing of the past. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

Hmm, the stuff I have seen is hugely expensive - what film are you talking about?
EDIT: NM- just found some 3m on ebay, enough to do the lights many times for $20

Not JUST a new car. I've put on quite some miles on mine before I decided to put them on my headlights.

When I did, my headlights were quite pitted in some areas already. Since you already buffed yours clean, why not spend a few extra bucks to make it stay that way? If the film gets really marred later on, you can simply peel it off and put on a new set. No damage done.

I just bought this, way more than I need but I am hoping to keep the extra and just replace the stuff if it gets banged up.

Just remember guys, when you lay down this stuff, you can safely SCORE the film and just peel off the excess. Best done with an X-acto knife.

If you cut too deep, you'll slice into the headlight lens.

elwaylite: Can I ask you to post a close-up picture of the finished lights. Something similiar to the first two pics. I need to do something about mine as well but I wanted to see the real difference before I decide.

Thanks.

There is a BIG difference between the paint protection film and the headlight protection film also. The headlight film is almost an 1/8th inch thick. My lights on my cars are crystal clear (but the paint is chipped) because the material absorbs the impact. You can also got to http://www.xpel.com/ and get precut kits as well as http://www.headlightarmor.com/.

Some day maybe my NEXT new car I'll get the paint film also. Headlight film is mandatory ESPECIALLY with the HID's because the chips cause glare.
