I've been told my i10 is on a boat and due to dock at Tilbury on Dec 1st which will be 14 wks after ordering so I will still be cutting it fine for the 16 wks to complete registration. Using the information supplied in this thread about tracking the boat in question I have worked out that it is probably the Morning Carol. This is where I get totally sad - I want to be able to track its progress and the vessel tracking sites I've come across either says it doesn't exist or the last feedback the ship gave was in the middle of August.

Can anyone confirm that I have the correct boat (sorry, should say ship) as you are due delivery around the same time and you have been told of the ship concerned or does anyone know of a web site to better track this ship - its a bit like tracking Santa at Christmas with the kids (and the wife). Thx.

the morning carol is due to arrive at tilbury on 30/11 & hopefully the link below will show you where she is - if it does just add it to your favourites and then every time you click on it you'll follow her progress by refreshing the page

Thank-you - not sure why the same site was giving me old data for the ships position but thanks anyway. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap.gif)

Well, after a wait of 93 days I collected mine yesterday.
I, too, took advantage of the Aviva 7 day free insurance but I've managed to find a cheaper quote (by £100) than their £208.
Very pleased with the car so far and, although it was a long wait, I've no complaints about the way the sale was handled. Thank you, Ian, at Eastham Motors ! (smartest dressed salesman I've ever bought a car from (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) )

Has anyone else heard about the 72 i10's that have supposedly been damaged at Tilbury docks?

we have been waiting for our car since the end of August and have just been told that our car, which we were told 2 weeks ago was in the counrty and on its way, has been damaged and has been sent back to warehouse.
This is the latest in a number of different reasons why our car still isnt available so I think I can be forgiven for being a bit dubious.
It took a lot of phonecalls to get this information from our dealer in Southampton, and the details of what has happened seem vague from our salespeople.

If anyone else has heard about this it would be great to hear what you have been told

Perhaps there isn't quite such a rush after all. Turns out the totals are way overestimated due to double-counting when orders get amended or changed, etc:

Have not heard about anything Darren, will try to find out more for you if I can. One daft thing, we had a case of a "damaged" car a while back, and I told them to get it delivered anyway as my customer was desperate. Turned up with the tinniest little dent you have ever seen, and 5 mins with the dentman, it was not visable.

Makes no difference to Hyundai numbers, as they cleaned the database a while back. Of course there will always be a few that are wrong, but for a few weeks now dealers have be threatened with fines for not canceling or changing order correctly. As the fines are in most cases are more than our handling fees, it has concentrated the mind :-)

I would still say hurry on i10 and i20 if you want one, as for example, later this week I am arranging a propecting day to try to sell our latest batch to retail, non scrappage customers.

Took delivery of our Red i10 Comfort yesterday. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/banana.gif)

Ordered on 5th Aug, so 3 months 3 weeks to wait.

It was certainly worth the wait but was heart breaking to have to drive home in the pouring rain behind a large lorry
kicking out dirty water (IMG:style_emoticons/default/angry.gif)

There was 8 miles on the clock and 1/4 tank of fuel. Had to buy mats for the car.

Will post pictures later.

Dealerman,

My i10 was ordered on the first of August, like many others I am still waiting for delivery.

I have been in contact with my dealer, very friendly guy, who is going to contact me in a couple
of days if he has any info.

My question is this, will I still get my car under the scrappage scheme? as the 4 month/16week time
limit will be up on monday

I dont mind waiting for my new car a bit longer, but I am concerned that I might lose out.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm new to this too, but as I see it you can check car transporters that leave Madras and are due to arrive Tilbury

http://www.eukor21.com/servlet/homepage.ma...vessel_schedule

MAD is the code for Madras, TIL is the code for Tilbury.

You can check on arrivals at Tilbury with the following link

http://www.pla.co.uk/Ships/index.cfm/site/navigation/flag/5

If you want to check on progress you can use links similar to this

http://aprs.fi/?call=MORNING%20CAROL&m...;timerange=3600

and a general view of shipping near London is presented by

http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/default.a...p;type_color=9#

What I don't get is how you can determine which ship your car is on. Does anyone know how we can use the car order number to find relevant ships?

My dealer initally said the car was in the country weeks ago, but now says it will hopefully be here for Christmas.

If you were told your car would be here just before Christmas would you hold out for a 2010 registration plate?

2010 plate? Isn't that March first? Seems a long wait, not sure the dealer would be happy keeping the car 3 months for no money.

Also, alot of people here are buying these cars on the scrappage scheme, not sure that will want to wait.

You can't wait for a '10' plate, unless the terms of the scheme are changed, all cars have to be registered by 28/02/10.

I think 'Busydee' meant wait to get it registered and therefore on the V5c document as a 2010 car. This would make a small difference to it's value in future, but nevertheless a few quid more than a car registered in Dec 2009.

Sorry for the delay, been off fighting in the i20 topic :-)

You will have no problems, but when you go over 4 months, they will need (if not already got)

1. MOT current at NEW order date (likely the day after the 4 months)
2. Tax Disc (copy) ditto date above.
3. Insurance Doc ditto dates
4. Photo ID now required but ultimately get roundable if impossible to supply.

Once over 4 months, Hyundai will pay for a new MOT.

And might be wiped out by the VAT increase.

Thanks for your reply,

Since I first posted my dealer has been in touch, and all you have listed has been supplied to them.

All I want now is my new car!!
