Don't let the dealers mess you around. The Port of Tilbury wants to clear all goods arriving as soon as it can which means a fleet of transporters when car carriers arrive. Hyundai don't want to pay storage charges so the want them shifted sharpish, too. UK haulage companies are having a hard time right now so they are keen to shift loads as quickly as possible. My i10 arrived on the Monday and was delivered to the dealer (in Cambridge) on a car transporter two days later. It had its PDI on the Thursday and I picked it up on the Friday. Hope this helps............

Hi - I ordered an i10 Classic three weeks ago (using an old Seat Arosa under the scrappage scheme) with an estimated delivery date on this week. Now after contacting the dealer, they're now claiming August at the earliest.

Anyone else in a similar situation? I'm a bit gutted and the dealer hasn't been much help (they didn't even contact us to let us know about the delay).

I just ordered my i10 1.2 Comfort last week and was given an estimated 12 week waiting time so i wont be seeing it until Seprember. Apparently this is due to the number of orders which have came in as a direct result of the scrappage scheme (which includes me!).

Thanks shavenhobo. I ordered mine on 4 May and picked it up on 22 May. To be fair, I scraped in before the full impact of the scrappage scheme hit home. I used the scheme and gave them my ten year old Honda Civic. When I picked the car up the salesman told me that the delivery had shifted to 12 to 14 weeks because of the scheme. I think the sticking point with me is that I read through this forum of dealers telling customers about silly times from port arrival to delivery to the customer. One of the things I get involved in is shipping goods into the country and I know that everyone along the chain needs to shift the items and get their money. The great thing is that you won't regret buying an i10. In 40 years of driving everything on wheels this was my first new car and I am over the moon with it. It isn't much bigger than the desk that I am sitting at but, boy, is it deceptive! I hope that you will be as pleased as I am. Best Regards.........

I see 2 on a daily basis!! one silver up the road (*not camp, more executive looking and resalable than other colours) and a blue one every day at work, im sure the one I see at work is the one i test drove on the day. Drive was good for those of you that never had the chance, good steering and all round good drive, seat height can be a little strange but feels quite nice being up a bit more than other cars. Interior is slick a small car that feels big genius!

Thanks, I have ordered silver as when we looked at them in the showroom the silver one looked bigger! We did get to test drive and I agree with everything you said. I just wondered how dinky they look when amongst normal traffic on the road rather than in the false setting of a showroom. My dealer did say they had 36 orders for i10s since the scrappage began so there will be plenty in my area soon!

maybe thats what gave me the impression of the"campness",perhaps "cute "would have been a better word. i agree though, i think the colour makes a big difference.the one i saw was definately smaller than i remember when ordering.

They are the 1.1 ES though, not the new 1.2 engine. Having driven both I can confirm that the 1.2 engine is far more sporty and gutsy and because they have the same economy figures and taxation class the 1.2 is a no brainer choice.

You will be able to get paint from here http://auto-paint.co.uk/carpaint/ as they will mix it to the Hyundai colour- Not sure if you can send paint to Spain though- suggest a local paint shop that mixes paint does a drop and you can then brush it on- dont forget though on plastic areas you will need a plastic sealing undercoat. I think these are the next ship-loads, but I'm not 100% sure of their contents. At least 2 have been via Chennai / Madras:

AIV103 ASIAN VENTURE 2009.06.30 18:00
AIK072 ASIAN KING 2009.07.02 05:00
CRN019 MORNING CARINA 2009.07.14 18:00
GRL001 GLORIOUS LEADER 2009.07.22 06:00

Ship positions follow in a subsequent post.

Absolutely not. The dealer took photo copies of the MOT and Log book when I placed the order. The originals were not handed over until the point of sale.

I forgot to take them when I ordered my i10, dealer was quite happy for me to scan and email them.

I just got an ES, I honestly couldnt tell the difference having driven both - nor could the dealer - my 1.1 is quiet enough, quick enough and frugal enough, the emissions and MPG is the same and the ES is far better equipped than the classic 1.2, has full body colour and a much nicer interior than all the other models.

Given the 1.2 gives you no advantage i think the ES is the no brainer especially as it's only £100 more than the classic but has around £1000 of extra kit - but I would say that....

no used a cwmbran dealer south wales, they copied log book, mot and surprisingly the tax disc which incidentaly runs out in august so they better get their skates on. Wouldnt worry too much indy.but could be a prob if you need to supply them for police producer or insurance.did you get a reciept from them when they kept them? might be worth checking incase of a"filing error" or something.

Yes dealer kept original log book and gave me a copy. He took a photocopy of mot and tax disc but said at some point he would need original mot.

Itza: that was very helpful but I have recently had a letter from Hyundai Spain enclosing a satisfaction survey. Making use of the address given, I will first have send them a word on the support that they should offer their dealers and through them, their customers and see what that brings. Constructive complaint could help other users, in the long run.

The camping holiday was wonderful (as usual). Weather, wine and food all came up to standard, French still comes more easily to us than Spanish (must try harder) and the little i10 proved to be a wondeful transport machine. Because of our lack of experience, we limited our daily runs to 500kms but will up that 750 / 800 next time we plan a trip.
