Hi, I have recently purchased a 2006 Highlander Auto, I tow a Jayco Destiny 16.9 foot, 1680 kgs. It tows very well at 100 kph cruise control on, overdrive off at 2900 rpm.
I have just completed almost 2000 kms, averaged around 15 litres per 100kms which I felt was quite good, almost the same consumption as my 2006 3.3 Sonata traveling in 4th at 100 kph (2800 rpm), two great vehicles.
With the Terracan, this is almost out of the maximum torque (1750 - 3000 rpm), in overdrive at 100 kph it revs at 2100, but the torque convertor tends to engage/disengage constantly which I realize will cause excessive transmission overheating.
My question is: If I fit 265 tyres instead of 255, besides a great price advantage I am hoping this will lower the rpm at my 100 kph choice, bringing the rpm further into the torque range.
Has anyone tried this, and was it satisfactory?
