QUOTE (dman1458 @ Jun 14 2009, 08:50 PM) Just my two cents here. Personally I think that amber should be made by law as the only colour for turn signals. It by far makes you stand out a bit more than red does. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) Sorry I just have to say you are now less safe than you were before putting the inserts on. Nice job on the mod but I agree, the red turn signal can be perceived as a brake light (esp. when someone is getting ready to cross-over to your lane) whereas the amber turn sigal clearly says "hey, i'm getting ready to turn". Just a personal opinion.

I would rather just have them know I was turning and avoid the whole accident/death thing. But hey that's just me. The pictures look like if it was to be amber tail light/signals though? This is why i was asking for some night pics to see what it would look like during the night. My Titan and infiniti both have red turn signals and its really not hard to see night or day i mean if you mistake it for a brake light somethings wrong with your vision because a brake light is solid and doesn't flash like a signal right?? I see where you two are coming from but then again it really doesn't make sense i don't know just my opinion. And don't the 09' sonatas also have the red signals??

...And don't the 09' sonatas also have the amber red signals?? V6, your post is a bit confusing. Perhaps you are mistaking the color of "amber". Twice in your post you mention "amber red", but amber and red are two separate colors. By definition, amber is a yellow-brown or an orange-yellow, depending upon whose definition you choose. On the other hand, red is...well, red. Either way, I'm almost sure your Nissan's have RED signal lamps, as does the 2009 Sonata. And I would also like to see how the OP's signals look in the dark. I don't plan on making any change like this, but I always like to see other people's mods.

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/02/report-...r-turn-signals/QUOTE REPORT: NHTSA may mandate amber turn signals Some cars have red turn signal lamps, while others have an amber hue. Big deal, right? The National Highway Traffic Safety Association thinks it is, after finding that amber lights are 5.3% more effective at preventing crashes than the red blinkers. NHTSA came to that conclusion after comparing crash data of vehicles that switched from one color to another. Europe already mandates the amber turn signal, and NHTSA says that data from other agencies supports their findings. As it is, American cars sold in Europe already receive legal turn signal units – even if they aren't sold that way in America (see Chevrolet's C6 Corvette as an example).
NHTSA is now asking the public whether it should mandate amber turn signals for all vehicles sold in the States. Unfortunately for automakers, amber turn signals aren't exactly high fashion here in the U.S., as the vast majority of the signals are of the red blinking variety, likely because of cost considerations. While it's true that the auto industry is probably suffering from a case of far too many regulations, anything that can improve safety by up to 5.3% without costing an arm and a leg is probably worth considering. If NHTSA gives automakers a reasonable amount of time to implement the changes, automakers may be able to fit the change into the next design cycle.

general rule of thumb: (if you don't already know (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) if one side is blinking = they must be trying to turn both sides blinking simultaneously = emergency lights solid for more than 1 second = brakes applied drive defensively, not offensively! oh yeah, colorblind people could care less what color the turn signal is...
