Okay so this is something I wanted to do since I bought the car. The signals on my 07 came amber. I dislike amber turn signals. I think all red makes it look better and cleaner. So I talked to a guy that makes them for other vehicles. He didn't have any for the Sonata so I made a stencil for the signal lamps and sent it to him. In return I got a nice vinyl overlay that looks great. The car looks different, almost like an 09 but the reverse light doesn't have as much red around it. His website is http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/BlueBatmobile2005/ if anyone wants to take a look at his work. He can make a vinyl over lay for pretty much anything. Just make him a stencil. I had to do some minor trimming but I expected that. Below are some pics of the after product installed.

You can order by emailing him at bluebatmobile@san.rr.com.

Couldn't you get the same effect by changing the bulbs from yellow to red? Jes' askin' ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

Looks killer. Very unique.
Ditto with above though, I have silverstars for turn signals and it looks good. Clear/blue bulb with a reddish/pinkish light. Sometimes it even looks green or blue from some angles.

Pretty neat. Think I might get some. So, Dennis, I take it you can swap in a red bulb? I hate the amber signals in back. One queation, Valk. What's that silver dollar sized disk on your trunk lid?

Just my two cents here. Personally I think that amber should be made by law as the only colour for turn signals. It by far makes you stand out a bit more than red does.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) Sorry I just have to say you are now less safe than you were before putting the inserts on.

I'm not Valk but I know what the "silver disk" is - external key lock for trunk lid.

Yes, and so can you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) Seriously, the directionals are 1156A; the A stands for Amber. If you want red, use 1156R.

No the effect would not be the same. If you look at your signal lamp the inside would still be silver reflective just with a red bulb IMO would look silly. This is cleaner and easier.

MMM matter of opinion. Alot of vehicles have red brake and turn signal. Amber is ugly IMO. Red may not be as safe but it is still legal where I live.

hmmm I think 23 or 26 USD??? You could also do a tint overlay of the whole thing if your in to that... Or you could do a yellow or blue fog light overlay. The lense has the same look when its off as well.

The vinyl is not super sticky. Basically you take a soap and water mixture clean the light really well first. Then spray the light and apply the vinyl right over top. Then squeegee out all the water with a cloth and a straight edge. I used a heat gun too to help get it around the curve and to get all the water out. This allows you to adjust the vinyl to the right spot.

And when the time comes you tell the buyer it's an '09 Sonata, and make a couple Dollars extra. Neat. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

Not my bag - I prefer the amber signals. I can't figure out why the North American car market has this fascination with red turn signals.
Having said that it does look like a decent product and you did a good job installing. Did you change the bulbs over to clear from amber or is the amber bright enough through the vinyl?

I left the bulbs alone. They are plenty bright enough to shine through. This is the second car I did. My first was my 05 corolla Xrs.
