Good day to all Tuscon CRTD Owners

How do you find your new vehicle?

Is it a pleasure to drive?

What mileage have you covered to date?

What mileage to the gallon are you getting?

I am semi-retired and am intending to compile a full Excel spreadsheet showing vehicles spec., (ie 2.0 CRTD CDX) Date of Purchase, Age of Owner (To show we are not speed kings), Current Mileage, Current MPG and anything else that you can provide to prove the problem.
(Your names and addresses and a contact email address would also help).

I fully understand and advise that I have no intention of passing these details on to anyone at all (Unless you agree that I can put them to Hyundai who should really know us all!).

Once completed the Excel report can be presented to Hyundai UK for them to send to Korea to prompt them into providing a solution to what appears at this time to be excessive fuel consumption of one of the most inspiring vehicles that I have owned. (The MPG promised by Hyundai was definitely the clinching factor in my purchase...I could have bought another proven produced 4x4 for the same amount of cash!)

If you agree with this idea please forward all you can to:-

tuscon.dieselmpg@virgin.net

A copy of the final result will be sent to all Owners that assist prior to being sent to Hyundai

Regards
Geoff

SEVERAL REPLIES RECEIVED TO DATE KEEP THEM COMING PLEASE

Geoff

Never heard of a Hyundai Tuscon!! They do have a rather nice SUV called a Tucson after the city in Arizona!

Geoff
have you had enough replies to considered collectively suing Hyundai?
With all the correspondence relating to the misrepresention and poor fuel consumption there must be enough of us to take them on. It would cost around £2,000 so its £10 per person for 200 disgruntled people or 54 miles worth of diesel per person

The link below makes interesting reading, with the onus on the dealer not Hyundai

Geoff I had a VERY interesting discussion with my local Trading Standards and they have stated (amongst other things) that any dispute I have is with the dealer from whom I purchased the vehicle and NOT the manufacturer.

I was also informed that it is not unknown for a dealer to refuse to accept responsibility and try to blame a manufacturer ........... of course I will not let that happen.

Do you have any update as to the level of response you received to your original request. I know you received my data but did you get any more ??

Latest Update

So Far 10 people have replied. (a total of 11 includes me) Hardly enough for any action to be taken as yet.:gunsmilie:

 We need all Tucson Owners to reply..

We need to see if there are only a few people who are having problems with fuel consumption or if all owners are also affected but do not wish to persue the problem.

Thanks for that re Trading Standards, looks like I'm in the smelly stuff I suppose as my dealer went up the swanney. (No vehicles to sell probably) So I only have Hyundai to speak with. :crying:

Come on all you Hyundai Tucson Owners. PLEASE Report on your vehicles fuel consumption.

I need your
, Name, Model (ie 2.0 CRTD GSi even petrol models if you have a fuel concern) Age(preferrable but over 30, 40 etc will do if you wish) Average MPG (ie between 22-28) and Best Tankful mileage (ie 32.7) Even Litre's to the mile. Then if you have written to Hyundai please say YES( If it was to complain/ask for help).

Replies to tuscon.dieselmpg.virgin.net

Thank you all for your time.>>>> I'm away now for a five days so things are likely to be a bit quieter for a while.

PLEASE DONT LET ME BEING AWAY STOP YOU FROM FORWARDING YOUR DETAILS
Oh and finally I know I've neen spelling Tucson as Tuscon but I really liked it this way (Typing with two fingers is part of the problem the other is an ageing brain)

Geoff

:angry2: I bought a 2 litre CRTD CDX Tucson in November 2004, having had a trouble free 2 litre coupe, which did exactly what it says on the brochure. My concerns were raised when the Tucson computer said it was doing 22 mpg! Contacted the dealer who advised that the computer was calibrated in US gallons/mile [useful or what] however when we converted to imperial gallons /miles there was a concern as this was less than 30 mpg
The dealer [Station Garage, Kilgetty] said let the vehicle run in and hopefully as it loosens up the mpg would improve, they had a demonstrator and the mpg improved.
After 4,500 miles no improvement, spoke to dealer who advised contact Hyundai Cars UK Ltd, did that and got the biggest load of flannel but eventually they verbally stated that they were testing in Korea to see how they could if at all address the problem.
Currently I get 29 – 30 mpg and the dealer at 29 mpg has verbally verified this.
Currently I am talking to trading standards as I feel I have been seriously misled and as I do in excess of 30,000 miles per annum am seriously out of pocket plus who wants a truck that only does 29 mpg?
I intend to take this issue as far as I can, litigation if necessary – anyone out there got any advice etc??

Hi All and :00000732:
Since first putting this thread out we have had several people asking what is happening re the fuel problem! or has anyone any idea how my mpg can be bettered (or words of a similar nature)
Lots of Owners of the first models produced 2004-Mid Oct 2005 have experienced poor fuel consumption.
Those who complained to Hyundai have been advised that they will be getting a Modification completed and an adjustment to the online computer to enhance our fuel consumption. (IF THEY HAD MADE THE VEHICLES PROPERLY IN THE FIRST PLACE WE WOULD NOT NEED ANY ENHANCEMENTS WOULD WE?)
Several members of the forum did send me their details and I have listed them for all to be notified about any item of interest or any thing that Hyundai may tell any one of us so that all can be in the know as soon as possible.
Do you want to add your details to the list?
Then send them to "tuscon.dieselmpg@virgin.net " and I will add you to the list.
Thanks
Geoff :460: :liebe011:

Hi

I don't know if you are still after this info but here is mine if you want: -

Nicholas Tickner
(Oct)2004 Tucson CRTD CDX Manual
Age 34
Average Mileage 25-28MPG
Best Mileage 29MPG
Cover about 1000Miles per month.

I would appreciate being informed about any news on the MPG subject. I have not persued it officially as yet because I want to see the outcome of the promised mods.
I bought my Hyundai, used, about 2 months ago. It has covered about 7800 miles from new. I am no gibbering **** and I know how to try and get the best economy so I don't carry around loads of weighty rubbish, have my tyres at the right pressure use the gears and accelerator correctly etc etc. I really like my Tucson but really do want it to return a more respectible fuel economy, even if it is not quite the 40MPG.

Regards
Nick Tickner

Thanks Nick
Yes I am still collating all details passed to me.
Have you reported your tuc to Hyundai yet? if not write to them so that they know you have a problem with that vehicle.
We are still awaiting the mods at this time.
Squirrel mail could have gotten to Korea and back 3 times by now!!(and carried the mods on his back ) but still we wait.

Thanks
