I have a 2007 Azera Limited, and almost every time I fill up, the fuel overflows and splashes out. It can be a small amount of fuel (usually after I've mowed and am already dirty) or a very large amount (usually when I'm dressed for church). It happens at different gas stations, so it's not the pump. My dealer has tried twice to fix the problem, but can't seem to resolve it. Anybody had this problem and gotten it fixed?

Thanks,
Brandon

yes. omg i thought i was the only one. my wife had been complaining to me and i just didnt get it. thought it was a girl thing. but yes i experienced it multiple times. it doesnt really do it for us any more for some reason but when it was it was constant. for a while i had the gas nozzle not all the way in and that was helping. allowed the cut off switch on the pump to "smell" the rising gas i suppose. try that. good luck, and no you're not alone

Its happened to me too. A few times. I usually listen at the pump and cut it off myself just in case. I've had other pumps, mainly in missouri with those stupid vapor capture things that wouldnt even put gas in the tank. It clicked off after a second. I had to hold and shove the nozzle in as far as I could get it to keep it from clicking off every second. Very annoying.

Lunsford:
I have the same problem here in Costa Rica, where service station attendants handle the fueling chores. I usually fuel at the same station and always remind the attendant of the problem. However, in almost every case of refueling, the attendant gets soaked. The paint shows a deterioration because of the problem. When I talked with the station owner about the problem, he says that in his experience, all Terracans do it.
Is the canister you are speaking of, under the hood? Or somewhere near the fuel tank? And the valves, are they at the canister as well? Do diesel engines have this canister? Thanks, Jeff M.

That is a new one. I have a 2006 Azera and fill it up every week. Set the pump on auto and never have a problem. I even top it off when I go on a trip. Just like the cracked dashboard. My car is three years old and I don't have a crack on the dash...knock on wood.

While I have not had an overflow issue, I've had another issue where I fill up and it will only allow 17 gallons, for example, then fill up another time and get 19 gallons, etc. I only fill up when I have the low fuel light on and it's next to empty. Sometimes I'll get 500 miles out of a tank, 450 on others, etc.....with the same driving habits. Something is definitely not right....it's all over the place. All in all, it's not a big deal because I just fill it up and go, but still it's very weird. I've never experienced this with any car I've owned. If it was empty, it would always take basically the same number of gallons.

The Azera actually has a 22 gallon tank, but (possibly) to protect the charcoal fume filter from being accidently saturated with fuel, it cuts off incoming fuel at some point before the maximum, and yes, that point does seem to vary a bit. People with an overflow issue are likely going to have to replace that filter cannister way before its time...

Never had this problem, but have noticed pumps at different stations do have different flow rates. I always use the automatic cut-off feature on the pump handle, but set it on the slowest setting. When it cuts off I squeeze it very slightly until it cuts off twice more. Also, never let mine get below about a quarter tank anyway so I do not know how much I put in vs. how empty tank is.

Just to add to the stew of opinions, I have a 2007 Limited. It is almost two years old, and I have never experienced this problem. You definitely should be mentioning the situation to your dealer's service department.
