Just had 2002 Elantra serviced because check engine stayed on. Problem was wires to number 4 cylinder was failing. All new wires now. New problem is after 20 more Kilometers light came back on. Yet the engine runs great. Could it be i need new spark plugs? OR Thanks for any help,its apreciated.

Its probably something else. You'll need to take it back in and get it checked.

I had the exact same thing happen - first time was a spark plug wire and then almost immediately the Throttle Position Sensor was going.

Thanx,gordo. Will take it back tomorrow,the service at the dealer has been great. They did nt charge me last time. :grin: Drove it out on the highway after. The 16 valve 2 liter sure makes it purr.

make sure, that any fault codes are recorded on your part of the work order !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just found out the problem ,guys and gals. Looks like i did nt tighten the gas cap enough. The service manager said i have to tighten the gas cap really hard . I did nt now it had to be that tight. o well ,live and learn. I feel even better about my purchase now. My mother is even impressed with this cars price and the quality of it ,and thats saying something.

Just remember to tighten "three clicks" - if the gas cap is not sealing properly it is defective and should be replaced.
