I have a new (2000 miles) '09 Genesis and the TPMS light comes on occasionaly. No pattern to it. The dealer says it is affected by radio frequencies and this will happen from time to time. Supposedly Hyundai is working on it. Anyone else have this problem?
Yes, I recently purchased an 08 Tiburon GT Limited (2,500mi) and the TPMS light goes on and off every few days...after 4 trips to the dealer, Hyundai is blaming my aftermarket radio. I've spoken to the radio company's tech department, and they said that the radio should NOT be causing any RF interference with the wireless TPMS system.
Hyundai says that you can have random interference if you are near airports/military bases/police & fire stations/power lines, etc....but I've had an entourage for 2 years, and the light hasn't come on once. Hyundai also put out a TSB stating that electronic devices plugged into the cigarette lighter can cause interference.
I've spent hours researching these systems online and have found many hyundai owners (Sonata/Azera/Tiburon/Genesis/SantaFe) having the same issues...I'm an easy target for Hyundai to pass the blame though because I swapped out the factory radio...
Please let me know how you make out with future repair attempts as I am also looking for the magic fix. The TPMS system is not a critical component, but it is very annoying to have a brand new car with a light on in the dash!
