There is a rubber tube that sticks out underneath my Tucson - near the the front center of undercarriage. I just noticed it recently. It drips water (water I think) after sitting for a while. Is this normal and is this just a drain for water from the engine compartment or condenser? I don't see it anywhere in my owners manual, but it sure looks like it is supposed to be there and is part of an original design.

Most likely it's the drain for your A/C condenser coil.

Not trying to be a pedantic, pontificating, pretentious....
Actually, this is the evaporator drain tube. As the moisture laden air passes through the a/c evaporator core, the moisture condenses, and needs a place to run out. Without this tube, the water build-up in the heater/evap case would eventually run out on the floor board. These drain tubes have been in use for decades. Boggles my neurons when someone brings this up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)
BTW, the condenser is in front of the radiator and needs no drain tube..

Hey I appreciated the reply you gave robtemple and it was spot on but don't forget that many folk (me included) have never owned a vehicle with air con till getting a tucson and therefore don't know about such things- I can remember asking the same question when I found puddles under my vehicle after I first got it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)

Sensible questions-sensible replies (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) Boggles my neurons when someone replies like this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) , after all not everyone even looks under a bonnet do they? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

Cheers

Itza

pedantic, pontificating, pretentious....

Okay, I deserved that! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush-anim-cl.gif)

Here I am, over twenty years as a control system engitech, working on cars for way over forty years, have my own gauges and a few gans of gas, and forgot the difference in an evaporator and a condenser. The neurons are dying, slowly but surely. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

My father in law said it best when he (frequently) said: "It's **** getting old".
Man, can I relate to that statement (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)
