Sorry I've been absent from the forums for a while now, but I have had quite a few things going on at work. We've been through a buy/sell here at the dealership, which basically means we've been sold to another automotive group. It was just total confusion for a couple weeks due to us changing computer systems, vendors, etc. Basically anything and anybody we did business with or talked to on a daily basis had to be changed in some way. Things have thankfully returned to some sense of normality, but I hope I don't have to go through it again for a long time. But anyway, on to the up side of this post... (IMG: style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) A couple weeks before we started hearing about the buy/sell, I traded in the lil Accent on a Norschleife Gray Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track. Quite an improvement, I know. I've had it for a month as of the 20th (Monday), and it's got 1700 or so miles on it. I'm nearly certain that mine was the first one sold in the state of Louisiana, but if you live in the state and bought one before March 20th, speak up. As soon as the oil filters I ordered come in, I'm going to put some Mobil 1 in it. (Just in case any of you need to know, the 3.8 V6 Coupe takes a different oil filter than any other Hyundai uses. I thought it used the same filter as the 3.8 Genesis sedan, but I was wrong. Make sure your dealer has one in stock before going for your first oil change. The part number is 26320-3C700.) I have to say that I am very very pleased with this car. It has more than enough power to get me jailed for quite some time. I'm going to have to find myself a racetrack somewhere to periodically go visit. The car is not happy doing anything less than 80 mph, and driving it around town stoplight to stoplight in traffic under 45 mph is just not fair to the car. It's like keeping a thoroughbred racehorse in a fenced-in back yard in the middle of suburbia. I would love to put on a set of headers, a full true dual catback exhaust (or header-back, lol) and an intake. That however is going to set me back about $3000, so it's just wish right now. If anyone wants to donate to the "make my car faster" fund, PM me and I'll give you my paypal address... lol j/k. However, that being said, the more traffic you drive in, the more attention you will get. This car attracts it like crazy, because if you've ever seen one in person, you know that you can't help but look at the car every time you walk by it. I still do that, and I drive it every day... lol. I swear, people act like they have never seen a Hyundai before. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) I have nearly tripled the amount of people who call themselves my "friends", and I should start collecting money from everyone who asks the question "so when are you gonna let me drive it?" I usually answer with "NEVER". I am overprotective of it, and so far have only let my brother drive it. I wish I could count how many people I've seen snapping pics of it with their phones while driving next to me or sitting at a stoplight... It's usually the people driving the "competition" cars: Mustangs, a couple Lexus IS's, a 350Z or two, swarms of G35s, and even a guy in a Porsche Boxster (which btw I can beat as long as it's not a Boxster S). For some reason it seems to really get to the G35 guys, because they almost get offended at the very sight of the Coupe, and they feel it necessary to try to embarass me or put me in my place and prove that it's still "just a Hyundai". When they realize that not only can I keep up with them, but that I can give them quite a run for their money and many times leave them behind, it does nothing but **** them off. I, of course, thoroughly enjoy it to the fullest. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/banana.gif) I took the car on a road trip a couple weekends ago and discovered that it attracts "fleas", as I call them. It's those people that notice the car immediately, so they run up next you you and match your speed to get a good look. Then they will speed up to pass you and move over to your lane to get a look at the car in their rearview mirror. Of course this causes them to drive like an idiot, so you pass them. This makes them have the sudden desire to ride your back bumper like they are glued to it and start taking pics of the rear and rear quarter views of the car to show all their buddies. I've found the only way to lose these "fleas" is to totally leave them behind. This is how I managed to take the car to 130 so far, but the road conditions (Louisiana interstates are like washboards) and traffic conditions would not permit me to try to reach the limiter at 150, which was my goal. (And before I get the flamethrower aimed at me, no, I don't do that often, in fact this is the first time in years that I've done it in years. I was a Paramedic for quite a while so I have plenty of experience driving very fast in traffic, as well as the understanding of what that can lead to.) So enough talking already, bring on the pics, right? LOL... enjoy. Big up! Congratz on the cool Gen Coupe, you've been lusting over that thing for some time now! The pics look great. I appreciate the urge to rid yourself of the 'fleas', as you put it so well - and perhaps to push the envelope a little - I have done 135 in my XJR under similar circumstances. If anything, it was eerily serene and smooth at that speed. Very effective for drying it off after a wash, too ;) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) Again, congratz!

TRAITOR!!!!! J/K, very nice looker, think the grey is the nicest color. However the G's will smoke you if they are really putting their all into it. I have a G sedan that I drove to the d-ship to test the 2 Genys (3.8 & 2.0). Engine to engine they are very similar, but the overall package is hands down G all the way. A negative with me is the Geny coupe interior is only available in dark colors. The coupe is an incredible car and a **** deal!

QUOTE (LilBean @ May 14 2009, 08:11 PM) I am up around Shreveport. Bought my Coupe at about 7 or 7:30 pm on March 20th. Up until about a week ago was the only one in this part of the state (thought I was the first Coupe owner in the state, but seeing your thread on GenCoupe I see it may be a close call lol). A guy not far from me bought a Black 2.0T Track about a week and a half ago. Hopefully we will be able to get a group organized for any future local Coupe owners. It will be a work in progress. **** a 370Z (IMG: style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) !! Dont take me wrong, Gen Coupe is a very good car, I wish I can see one around here (it is not on sale here in any trims)... instead there are a couple of 370Z they are just fabulous. Lilben, do you have a kill list? how many cars have you beaten?

Noticed your post date of April 23rd. That's the day I got my Nordschliefe Grey A/T 3.8 Track here in Kentucky. As far as i know I have the only 3.8 Track in the state as of Aug 26th. I absolutely love mine. I did buy the "Genesis Wings" to replace the Hundai emblem. Hope you like yours. I've had a few problems but nothing serious. It's way to much fun to drive. Not to many 3.8 Tracks around.
