hey, a girl i work with just bought a 2001 hyundai accent 5 speed, but it doesnt have a tach. it doesnt even have a shift light. i told her that id put in a tach for her, and i was looking up info and it looks like this stuff is engine specific. so i was wondering if anyone could give any info. like where to hook up wires and stuff like that. i think i want to put the tach kinda on the a pillar. that looks like the best spot. thanks for any help.

is there a way to put in a tach without redoing the whole assembly for the speedo and stuff. i know in my garage i have a gauge that can be hooked up to read rpm's, so i was wondering if i could buy a regular old tach, mark my own redline and install it? thanks for any help. btw, can anyone confirm that it has a 6500 redline?

Well, if you get a tacho from the scrap yard, the gauges should be an easy swap. If on the other hand get an outside mounted one, then all you need is to hook into the tacho-signal wire from the ECM, on the way to the Speedo cluster. Go to www,hmaservice.com for the wiring circuit.

QUOTE(duke @ Apr 6 2005, 01:42 PM) FIND A SCRAP YARD with a crash 05 Accent, and use parts of its cluster. Everything should work when connected back, car is prewired.
Does the same info (minus the '05 Accent part) apply to a '94 Elantra? In other words, is the '94 Elantra "prewired" to accept an instrument cluster with a tach from a similar vehicle so equipped?
