Hi, Newbie here so apologies if this has been asked before. I have searched and couldn't find anything though, so hence the new thread.

I have a 2006 2.0CDX petrol Tucson, love the car but have a new issue with it, I was wondering if anyone knows if it's a quick fix, or a trip to the dealer.

The external temperature display on the climate control is displaying 60 degrees Celsius permanently. It did this a few weeks back, but then worked as normal.

It then started again and would go between 55-60 degrees C. It's now stuck at 60. If there are any of our colonial cousins from across the pond thats 140 degrees Farenheit. I've been in that kind of temperature in the middle east, it is painful!

I would normally put this down as an inconvenience and not worry too much about it, but it has caused a related issue.

As the car thinks it's 60 outside, even setting the heating to 27 degrees, it blows out cold air. Understandable as it will be trying to get the temperature down to 27.

Anyone with any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

NoelT

Methinks either the outside temp sensor is bad or you have a bad connection, probably at the sensor.

I agree methinks that perhaps sticking the old hand out the window will give a better idea than the guage. Also when was last service? as often things go wrong just before the next one (sceptic I am ) and lastly on the dash by the glass is a small sensor (centre of the dash) you haven't got that covered at all have you?

Cheers

PS where in the UK are you? North or South????

Thanks for the replies.

I could live with the temperature guage not working, but it's the fact that the heater has stopped working too. I spoke to my local Hyundai dealer and they said that the 2 aren't linked, but seems a bit too coincidental that the sensor broke at the same time the heater stopped heating!

It is due a service, it's 2 and a bit years old but has only done around 14k. (Wife drives it 99% of the time)

Talking of which, what sort of price should I be expecting for a 2 year service on this? My local dealer (of which there is only 1) nearly made me fall off my seat when he quoted me for a service. It's only an oil change isn't it at this age???

Thanks again for the replies.

Is it still in warranty? If so, let the stealership fix it!

agreed.. a 2-year service should be something completely separate than this issue (and with only 14k miles - or KM, on it, you should only need an oil change, and maybe the cabin filter and air filter with some "inspecting" of other areas)..

but this temp issue is well within the warranty period and should be fixed by the dealership.. no doubt about it
