In early March, my dealership sent me a postcard mentioning a "factory recall" on my Azera and someone hand wrote "T60" on the card.

Any idea what this is all about?

Bud H

Simple...just call the dealer
I'm not aware of any recall on the Azera
Normally recalls come from the mfg. not the dealer

There's nothing on HMA service other than the recall of some factory oem replacement spare part headlights.

You guys might want to check out my thread here: http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t35594-hyund...alls-issues.htm

I posted it in the non model specific forum since it applies to several models.

The recall involves 2009 azera's where the audio amplifier is replaced. Apparently the 09's had issues with the audio amp, the audio output would intermittently stop. The amp is located in the trunk.

This is another recall for the Azera I Found:

Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s):
HYUNDAI / ACCENT 2006-2007

HYUNDAI / AZERA 2007

HYUNDAI / ELANTRA 2007

HYUNDAI / ENTOURAGE 2006-2007

HYUNDAI / SANTA FE 2007

HYUNDAI / SONATA 2006-2007

HYUNDAI / TUCSON 2005-2007

HYUNDAI / VERACRUZ 2007-2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 09V122000
Summary:
HYUNDAI IS RECALLING 531,894 MY 2006-2007 ACCENT, ENTOURAGE, SONATA, MY 2007 AZERA, ELANTRA AND SANTA FE, MY 2005-2007 TUCSON AND MY 2007-2008 VERACRUZ VEHICLES. THE STOP LAMP SWITCH IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY MALFUNCTION. A MALFUNCTIONING STOP LAMP SWITCH MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED OR MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED. A STOP LAMP SWITCH MALFUNCTION MAY AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE BRAKE-TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK FEATURE SO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK POSITION. IT MAY ALSO CAUSE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, AND IT MAY NOT DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED.
Consequence:
THESE MALFUNCTIONS MY LEAD TO A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STOP LAMP SWITCH FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HYUNDAI CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-633-5151.
Notes:
HYUNDAI RECALL NO. 092. OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .

This new brake light switch recall is not a surprise to me at all. We have literally replaced HUNDREDS of brake light switches on Sonatas mostly (06-up), but also some on Azeras, Santa Fes and a few Elantras. I don't know who Hyundais uses as their vendor for the switches, but I guess they've finally decided to do something about it. I'm not exactly sure how they think it can cause a crash, except for someone rear ending you because of the lack of brake lights. All of the other issues are not totally critical.

Anyway, simple fix. When the Campaign gets underway and you find out you need one, it's a simple 5 or 10 minute change once you car actually get into the shop.

What I have heard from my service advisor is that the only Azeras affected are the ones manufactured between Sept 06 to Nov 06. So far, I haven't recieved any notification from HMA.

On another side note, with about 22k, my 07 is running absolutely fantastic. No knocking sound yet & it has been the most trouble free car I have ever bought!

Hmmmm....that was the first thing of many to go wrong on my 06. Had the amp replaced after the sub and right rear speakers turned off.
