I am a lawyer, a car enthusiast leaning towards tried and tested brands and models such as the Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, and Honda Civic, but for reasons I cannot still explain or understand, I fell for the sales pitch of our local Hyundai dealership and bought a 1.6 Matrix with auto transmission.

Reading the exchange of messages in this forum, I now realize we share the same problems of FC (fuel consumption) and airconditioning efficiency.

I would be glad if I got 10 Km per liter which I do not. My mileage is 6.5 km per liter, which is explained partly by Manila's horrid traffic. No mileage when you are standing still. Maybe if I remove the catalytic converter? Have to wait for one more year on my 3-year warranty, though.

Stay away from magnets and fuel line modifiers; they are junk and do havoc on hour fuel injection.

Airconditioning is not as cool as my old Mitsubishi Lancer and Toyota Corolla. Nissan had the best AC.

Love to hear views on common problems and I will share my own views and experiences.

I am a car nut too. Not exactly the DIY type tho. But sometimes just got no time to do all the TLC on my car.

Bought mine in April 05, a 1.6 manual.

Done close to 100K kms in it. Haven't done any servicing of the aircon, stil ok however. Still using the same battery for the past 2 yrs.

FC is so-so I would say. Depends on where u r and how u drive.

Stil looking for the best method to reduce FC.
