This is an unusual question, but I have never used the MP3 feature of my CD player before in my 2005 Hyundai Tuscon. So I was all excited that I could get 135 selections on one CD and I made certain to put the selections in the order I wanted to hear them. Unfortunately, the CD player plays them somewhat randomly. It seems to organize the selections in groups call "ROOTS" (in this case up to 18 Roots) and them places the selections in each Root the way it sees fit. The "RND" (random) button is definitely not pressed. Also, this group of MP3 selections plays just fine on Windows media player where I organized & burned them. Is there a way to get the selections to play in the correct order on the Tuscon CD player, or is there something I am overlooking that is making this happen? The Hyundai dealership has no idea, and there seems to be no "technical support" department that I can call for assistance. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like it might have something to do with the ID3 tags possibly.. maybe they have "Genre's" built into the tags and that is how they are grouped? (you would need to use something like iTunes or WinAmp to see the ID3 tag information).... but if not, they shouldn't be "grouped" as anything if they are simply files burned onto a CD.. another question might be "how was the CD burned"? (data CD? mp3 CD? music CD?)..

the wife's Tuc (before we had an aftermarket stereo put in) did not have this problem, and the MP3 CD's played fine without randomizing the files....

definitely a strange problem, but it seems like it has to be more the way the files are set up (tagged) or burned rather than an issue with the CD player, especially since it is seeing "groupings" of files rather than just files....
