QUOTE (swipper74 @ Apr 20 2009, 04:41 PM) I hope someone can help me...I am having trouble finding a cabin filter that fits correctly as the one that came in the car originally. I bought a Purolator filter from Advance auto parts that didn't fit near as well as the original, it was smaller and didn't have the cardboard ends on it to prop it up. I next bought one from OReilly auto parts that was a bit better/bigger and looked identical to the original, but still wasn't the same size. The two I've had were looked up on the computer at the stores and I was given the filter per the computer. Are these aftermarket filters OK to use or should I track down an OEM filter from a Hyundai dealership?
BTW, my Sonata is a 2009 GLS 4-Cylinder for what it's worth.
Thanks to all in advance for your valuable info and help! I havent found a aftermarket filter that fits well. all seems too loose, an makes noise when blower is on. OEM filter part number is 08790-3K000-A an fits perfect MRSP is 16.95 hopes this helps! Shawn

QUOTE (MiamiLX @ Apr 25 2009, 06:14 PM) And that's just one more reason that we need to hear from you more frequently. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) You should do what Craig Brooks does at his Dealership. Signs in first thing in the morning, and is with from 9 to 9. Sure he takes some time off between deals & Lunch. Don't ever forget us, your Sonata Friends! It's called "tabbed" windows! But yes, I'm always around....looking and laughing. Always making $$, while I'm watching you all, of course! Thanks Bean for being with us.

QUOTE (LilBean @ Apr 25 2009, 07:35 PM) The correct 2009 Sonata cabin filter is different from the previous year Sonata. This information was not released to us until about 1-2 months ago, which was well after the Sonatas hit the lots. That is one thing that Hyundai is really bad about... part number updates and accessory information. It's always "a day late" so to speak.
The part number for the 2009 cabin filter is 08790-2G000-A, versus the previous year part number of 08790-3K000-A. There are probably many, many dealers that don't even know this, even tho it's available the in the "Documents and Resources" section of Hyundai's dealer site.
Here is a cabin filter reference chart. I might as well attach it since I already had it looked up. LOL Good to know, i need to change mine soon. Any MSRP info? That number isn't even on Google so off to the dealership I go... I may need to call first to confirm they have it. And yes, thanks for hanging here and providing info, enjoy your new ride. Thanks all for the info! I too googled the part number, but it was a no go. I will also call the dealership and see if it's in stock. If for some reason, it can't get it at the dealer, is there a Hyundai dealer that sells parts online?

QUOTE (craigbrooks @ Feb 23 2009, 10:12 PM) I went to HD this afternoon, and found an even better set up/deal: They have an A/C line of air filters called TrueBlue where I found size10"x24"x1" which makes 2 Filters... The size 10" fits perfectly in the Sonata air filter holder... all one has to do is to cut to size the other side to make a perfect fit! Just one cut and that's it... and the cost is even sweeter:$1.50 with tax which comes to $0.75 per filter! So I was visiting two hardware stores yesterday, and took the extra time to check their HVAC filters.... Both carry that 10x24x1 size, but both are that cheap BLUE mash that's worth absolutely nothing when it comes to what they're suppose to do, filter the air.... Does 3M or one of their competitors make that specific size, but in the QUALITY white-color filter?

So, since I have a 2009 Sonata Limited, the cabin air filter OEM part number is 08790-2G000-A.
I see it mentioned earlier in this thread that the 2008's and before used a slightly different 08790-3K000-A, which a Purolator C35661 corresponded with.
Does anyone know the corresponding Purolator (or Wix, Fram) part number for the 08790-2G000-A?
Thanks in advance!

That seems to be the problem, however--online, everyone is saying the same filter fits all 2006 to 2009 Sonatas.
Does anyone know how much bigger or smaller the 08790-2G000-A is than the other one?

Can anyone help me in removing the cabin air filter of my 2009 Sonata? The manual says to remove the clips on the inside of the glove compartment. I don't see how to do this as there are no screws holding them in. I can get a screwdriver underneath the clips but feel like I would snap the plastic by pushing them out>
