Dear Friends,
I need your help urgently...
I have Hyundai (Pony) Excel 1993 model.
Yesterday night, i was smoothly driving my car on highway, suddenly its engine stops and waring lights (battery + Handbreak + Oil) on.
I pull my car on the road side and try to start it but it was taking self but the engine didn't starts...
At that time i feel very different sound of my car engine...it was like some thing slipping in side the engine...
Can any tell me what happened to it, someone told me that its timing belt may be fail...
I changed the timing belt about two years ago and it is used only approximately 30,000 Kms.
If timing belt fail, what about the rest of the engine.... ?
Kindly reply as soon as possible.....

Thanks in advance,
ASAD

sounds like it may well be the timing belt, check it to see if its broken or slipped same teeth. if this is the case then its very likely you will have damaged the valves

Hello Asad
it sounds like your timing belt broke..look under the hood to also make sure NO other belts are broken.
Hyundai has an INTERFERENCE engine, so if the timing belt breaks, the valves bend and break and the engine will not start. You have to remove the TIMING BELT plastic cover and see if the belt slipped off the timing pulley or if the timing belt broke. When replacing thwe timing belt, ALWAYS replace the timing belt TENSIONER WITH A NEW TIMING BELT AND put a NEW TEnsioner SPRING ON.
I hope this helps/these cars also has many problems with their ECU (COMPUTER), but soounds like a belt broke..wish I could help more..good luck..let us know!
ALSO "reb162" has a great picture of this TIMING BELT (when timing belt cover is removed)..look at his post (TIMING BELT CHANGE HINTS AND TIPS)..it will help show you what the belt should look like.
