My 2004 Terracan has a fan mounted under the intercooler, but the plug for the electrical connection is not connected to anything. The plug is hanging at the left-rear corner of the engine, when viewed from the driver's seat. The electrical connector has two male connectors in it and if you jump them together, the fan runs. So, I assume that there must be a switch somewhere that is supposed to be connected to this connector, perhaps a thermostat switch. My car has quite a few dead-end connectors throughout, perhaps because it is a basic model without a lot of options. Does anyone know if it is normal for the intercooler fan to not be connected to a switch or thermostat? Thanks, Jeff M.

I took the cover off the top of my engine today and found the other half of the connector for the intercooler fan. It is mounted to the left rear corner of the frame that holds the intercooler itself. Perhaps the previous owner unhooked the fan electrical cable because the fan was running too much. I'll find out now for myself if it runs too much. I hooked up the cable again and the fan did not run with the key switch on, so I assume that the thermostat switch is working as it should. We'll see.
