Hi

I have just purchased a bog Standard 1998 Accent (Excel here in Oz) and am looking to change the steering wheel.

Has anyone had any experience of this, maybe with manufacturers, size of wheel and fitting and especially where does the horn button go!

Hi :) ,

Any of your local reputable auto parts stores should be able to help.

Check with your local RTA or equivalent to find out legalities regarding size and construction otherwise the boys in blue could slap a canary on the car.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Andrew B) .

Most places require you to have an airbag. I wanted to get a new steering wheel for my car but it would envolve losing the airbag inside the wheel. I havent really looked into it much. I'm hoping to find a way to get a new wheel in legally.

I know in Ontario you can apply to have your airbag disabled if you fall into a high-risk category (ie sit too close to airbag etc.). I'm not sure if it is only Ontario or all of Canada but check it out. I know my father applied for this and they didn't actually check anything just accepted him. Check it out. Your biggest problem would be to find somebody willing to remove it for you.

Hi,

The 1998 model Accent doesn't require an airbag.

Cheers,

Andrew
