I have a 2007 Hyundai Tucson. When letting my car run in the morning, I would like to be able to lock the doors with my spare keys while I go back into the house. Every time I try, the car automatically unlocks. I have tried using the remote key, locking the car by pressing the lock button inside the door, and manually locking the driver's side door, but it always unlocks. Does anyone know of a way to over-ride this feature?
Thanks!

Jenn its part of the safety feature of the vehicle-however if you get a remote starter fitted then that will start your car and the doors remain locked (I think)
Hope this helps

No, there's no way to disable it, it's built into the programming of the BCM.

You should try to lock the keys in a new Genesis sedan. It's impossible, even with the vehicle NOT running. Stand outside the vehicle with the key in your hand and lock the doors with the driver's door switch (inside). Shut the door. Car stays locked. Do the same thing again, but this time throw the keys on the driver's seat after you lock the door but before you close it. Once the door shuts, the car beeps and the doors unlock. It's impossible to outsmart, I've tried... lol.

The only way to disable it is install a remote starter and keep one of the remotes with you to lock the doors while the car is running.

Have you ever locked your car with your only available key in the ignition? And locked the house on your way out with your only available house key on the key ring with the car key?

Now you know. Don't ask me how I know! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

"in the ignition"? does this mean with the car running? (which is what the OP was asking about).. simply being in the ignition wont keep your car unlocked (IIRC), but if the car is running, the car wont stay locked as stock... (as Itsa said, its a safety feature built-in).... if yours does this, then somehow its broken...

I have a compu star remote/starter installed and while the tucson is running, i can get out and use my remote from the alarm/starter to lock the doors. Ive been able to do this with my last 3 cars with this alarm/starter combo.
