Ok people. I am a little frustrated. I just bought a used 2007 Entourage. Love it...But come on, can someone tell me if this van has a problem with engine braking? Every time I take my foot off the gas the van starts to slow down, noticeably fast. Even driving down hill. THIS CAN'T BE NORMAL. Is it?

Dear jay,

No, something is wrong. You should have some degree of coasting with your foot off the brake. You should not have perceptible fast braking just from lifting your foot off of the accelerator. However, please realize you are pushing a small barn through the air.

One test you can do on a road with no other traffic is to shift the car into neutral at 60 mph, and timing how long until your speed drops to 50 mph. Record the time. Put the minivan back into drive, accelerate back 60 mph, and time again how long until your speed drops to 50 mph. Is there a big time difference?

Byron
