Has anyone else experienced their battery going dead? Tonight it happened again for the third time on our '07 Entourage.
The first time I had left a small scanner on in the vehicle but the other two times I could not find any source of a drain on the battery. I recognize the clock etc pulls a small amount but it shouldn't be enough to drain the battery totally.

I guess I'm wondering if the stock battery is just super cheap and inferior.

Hi,
my father owns a 2007 entourage (the one with the all the electronic toys and leather, ie electric tailgate, power doors, dvd system). Well, he has had this problem pretty much since he purchased the vehicle. They have replaced the battery a number of times, they have replaced the DVD system, they have replaced the entire onboard computer and yet this past week, the car died once again.

This time they (hyundai) are saying the problem is with the fact the latches on the sliding door are not properly catching and as a result the dome light, which goes off when the car is closed and turned off apparently comes back on at some later time and drains the battery dead. The simple answer they suggested was to leave the dome light off, but that is not a solution, so they are doing something to the latches this week. The biggest problem is this car is going to be going off warranty soon and frankly, this problem has never been solved and i fear that day 1 after the warranty the problem will still be there. (fyi canada warranty is 5 years.)

good luck.

Show your Dad this site. Apparently there are bad junction boxes that need to be replaced per a TSB.

Just to advise our immediate remedy...... we've hooked up 2.5 amp trickle chargers to all our batteries. It makes for a little effort connecting and disconnecting but now that the temperatures are near zero it's worth the effort to be sure the cars will start.

This has started to occur on my 07 Entourage too. Had it a few times, once in the airport parking lot after we came back from vacation late at night. When this happens I switch off the lights and ventilation. It will crank and just about start. This is our kid hauler and so I am not happy with how this could leave us stranded with two little kids.

Now, after after just 17k miles, one of the front brake rotors is also warped. I also have the dubious pleasure of owning an 06 Azera with all the associated quality issues and I can tell you I will never buy a Hyundai again. I don't recommend it to anyone.

I have an 08 Entourage Limited and have issues with the battery going dead since I bought it in Oct 08. The dealer has replaced the battery and the negative battery post, but the van is back in the shop for the same reason. No solution yet.

Dealer replaced the battery under warranty, everything is fine again. Though I am a little frustrated with the frequency of visits to the dealer.

I hopefully have gotten to the end of the dead battery deal. The dealer replaced the positive battery cable and the neagtive battery cable end. It was ok from april until last week when the van was dead again. It had sat for two days and had not enough power to open the door locks. They have replaced a IP module and it has not died for them since. Time will tell.

Don't know if this will translate to the Entourage, but some folks with Azeras have had a similar battery draining problem which has been traced to a missing rubber bumper under the hood which contacts the security system hood switch.
If the hood switch isn't made and the security system is engaged (pressing the "lock" button on the remote) something in the mix causes the battery to drain within a day or so.

An indication that this is a cause (again, for the Azera) is that, when you press the remote lock, you should get a single beep and the lights should flash once. If any switch (hood, door, trunk) isn't properly made, you'll get no beep, no flash...
