Hey all,

I brought my Sonata in today for service and the advisor said there is a sunvisor recall for 06-07 Sonatas (#T64). He has the kit on order and will replace under warranty. Just FYI - I know people here have mentioned this in the past, but now it seems to be officially covered. Is this old news?

Sorry Miami, but that's not the right one.

This new Campaign, T64, address the droopy sunvisors in the 06 and 07 Sonatas. I think they are waaaaay late in doing this, though, being as many of them have already been replaced one at a time.

Here is the campaign the original poster is referring to.

It's ironic that this was posted. One of our Hyundai sales managers was in an accident a few weeks ago. Her 06 Sonata came over from the bodyshop today to be cleaned and the sunvisor was drooping in my way and it was annoying me. I thought it was because of the accident, guess not.

We need you Bean to help us out with TSB's. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) I had not seen that, however I have been warning

users about the Visor since 2006. It can break in a variety of ways. Same part used since 1986!

I did find this interesting though...

IMPORTANT: CAMPAIGN APPLIES TO VEHICLES LOCATED IN THE WESTERN,
PC, AND SOUTHERN REGIONS ONLY. THIS WOULD INCLUDE
THE STATES AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, HI, KS, LA, MS, NC, NM,
NV, OK, OR, SC, TN, TX UT, AND WA.

Yeah I thought this was new - a took my car in about 1-2 months ago and they checked for TSBs but nothing came up. Haven't experienced the issue myself but happy to avoid it in the future.

I finally gave in and replaced mine (driver only) about three weeks ago at a cost of $80 (I'm out of warranty).

This is a TSB, not a recall, so I doubt I'd have gotten it for free anyway.

No, it IS a recall. Anything that Hyundai calls "Campaign" is a recall. TSBs simply get numbers, such a 01-09-006 or something similar. Recalls can still be performed for the life of the car, regardless of mileage.

Hey I have a question? Why is this Recall only being done in 20 of our 54 States (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

Thanks for clarifying that for me, LilBean. I wonder now if I could get a refund from the dealer for the part and charge them $80/hr for labor since I did the work myself. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

I've never had the MIRROR crack, but the arm on my visor did crack (just like it shows on the TSB/Recall/Campaign notice). I rarely used the visor, but it still kept sagging lower and lower. I finally gave it an $80 Viagra...I mean sunvisor replacement...and it's not limp anymore. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)

My dealer here in Colorado offered to do it, even brought it up himself as I had not heard, but it was just done under warranty about 2 months ago so he left it on my record in case the replacements droop down the road. I would be surprised if it was limited to just 24 states. A "recall" is usually done if there is a safety concern... and I'm sure cars in all 50 states would have the same safety concern if the visor drops down into your field of view and causes an accident... now THAT would be a liability and I'm sure that was the reason (tho late) that this recall was done.

It's a "south" american thing babs....you wouldn't get it. Not sure I do either now that I think about it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) Must be a Miami thing.

Wasn't the recall for peeling airbag stickers and not drooping visors? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif)
