I was wondering about beta engine swaps into the accent. This means that the Tiburon engine is being put into an accent? Is it the 2.0L Tiburon enigne? How difficult would it be to do one of these swaps into a 2002 Hyundai Accent manual with 1.5L in US? Would it be worth the time/effort with the increase in performance or would it cost more for installation,etc. then it is worth? Thanks.

:D it is a good swap, the car will responde better, and good performance, a thing i know is that if you make the swap u can install the A/C :blink: , but the car will respond better, I guees i would make a swap also :D

Anyone know of an engine swap I can do to my '00 Accent? Not too many performance upgrades available for mine. Considering swapping engine. Anyone else hear the rumor about a Tiburon engine in an Accent?

The Tiburon engine swap is a reality - but I only know of one place that does it and they are in Australia (www.PerformanceStylingCenter.com.au) and I don't think they will tell you how to do this - but it can be done. A guy in the UK is currently havin a 2.0 litre Coupe engine put inti his X3 Accent - but it is a lot of work and will cost a lot of money for a garage to do (and take a lot of time).

Engine swaps can be tricky in any car, but the accent is pretty good when it comes to room for different engines. I swapped the 2.0L from a 2000 Elantra in last year. It makes 140 hp so I should be pretty well off, considering it's only 4 cylinder. I had to make custom mounts because the bolts didn;t line up with my factory cradle very well ( go figure :P ) so the only real hard part was getting the wiring to work. I e-mailed the guys at Hyundai and the ysend the diagrams for my accent and the elantra, so all i needed to d owas cross-splice the wires. I do this for a living though, so I had no problem. I did still take me about 5 hours. Once the engine is installed the exhaust is another story. I upgraded to a larger pipe, so I custom fabbed the whole header/downpipe assembly. I used 321 sus steel so I know it'l be on for a long time. My plans are for a turbo system this spring, so I will probably try and sell the headers to some guy with an elantra. I think i'm gona use the T66 turbo, but i'm not final yet.

Here in Puerto Rico are a los of Hyundai Accent with that swap, the most I'l ready saw is in the 95-99 Accents, but in the 2000-up i saw a few, look this one is a Accent with turbo tiburon engine running low's 10 at the 1/4 mile, NO nitro :thumbsup:

:( sorry, I say that, that engine swap could be done, I guees the A?C cannot be fit, there no space for the A/C compressor, he need to change some of the engine support and the ECU, and i say to him, that he can go to a webpage of Puerto RIco, where he can find somehelp :thumbsup:

I say swap the 2.0 elantra engine in. It's pretty much a direct swap, other than some fabbin you have to do for the motor mounts and exhaust. The wiring isn't that hard either. I did my harness in about 5 hours.

The 2.0 Beta engine in the Elantra is identical to that in a same-year Tiburon (Coupe).

what about on sunday, do you learn then? I only learn from about 11:35 to 12:00.

You wouldn't want the A/C if you are swapping the engine for power reasons as having an A/C cooling pump fitted runs off the drive belt, creating a little bit extra work for the engine whether A/C is switched on or off. You will probably only loose a few HP in a 2.0 litre engine, but every HP counts I say! :D

:thumbsup: The accent won, but the EVO 8 (turbotrix) lose he had some problems, but that car runs 9.7 + o -, and the Accent with the Turbo nitrous tiburon engine runs 9.7's with full intiriors and automatic transmission :thumbsup:

i know its bringing back an old subject but when you say splicing in the old wiring harness can't you just use the whole harness from the doner car? or can't you get it all out? I think that would be easier than cutting and splicing.

i was just on some random website and found some JDM Honda Civic engines the b18c gs-r in particular. anyone know if this would fit in an 04 Accent? if u do please lemme know this site claims it puts out 197 to the fly without any turbos or and mods

16 with a hyundai

hi, this is my first post on this forum.

I own a 01 Accent, 1.5L 5speed, and atm the only mods are cat back 2.25" exhaust (Jun B.L. Muffler) and a pod.

I heard that it's possible to drop a evo 6 engine in, as in, the engine mounts are the same, and it all fits. It was from a fairly reliable source.

Has anyone heard of this, or knows how I can confirm this, because if not I might as well go ahead with getting a custom turbo manifold made and doing it the old fashioned way.
