Hi. I was hoping to get some advice from those of you who have experience with installing HID's in an Azera. I would like to do this on our '06 and have found a couple options. I'd like to know if these are both OK for the 06 Azera, and if anyone has used these. Or, if you would recommend a different kit let me know. Thanks.

Go to ddmtuning.com for your kits. They are inexpensive and have a lifetime warranty. I absolutely love mine!!

I second this. My kit is also from DDM (35w 6000k Slim ballast) and they are awesome.

I believe the older Azera is H7 bulb size, unlike the newer ones with H11B sockets which we have a work around for. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Good luck!

Thanks I'll check them out. Are their kits plug and play or are there any other modifications needed for them to work on the Azera?

Thanks for the heads up. I figured they were OK since they are an advertiser here. Figured if they had a bad rep. they would get pulled or something, but I'll go with one of the others. Haven't ordered yet because I wanted to make sure mine are indeed H7 and haven't had a chance to check yet.

Nah - look them up on the better business bureau web site (bbb.org). KoreanAutoImports is a trade name for customsorento.com which is the registered name at the BBB. They currently are rated unsatisfactory.

The H11b can be modified to fit an H11 lamp. I did it on mine and so have others. Here is the link: http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t30328-hid-3...or-the-2009.htm. It was very easy to do. If you have an H7 bulb, even better, but the H11b can be modified.

In middle east many of our models come equipped with HID including Azera also the new 09. Its odd that cars are more expensive in North America and stripped of more stuff :S

Please explain to us gringos what you would pay for a Hyundai Azera top-of-the-line
model in United States dollars (USD) whatever the exchange is over there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

I find it hard to believe that the list price for a loaded Azera is less over there than here in Estados Unidos.

Here are some people (in fact, a whole government) who say putting HID's into a car that OEM's with halogens can get somebody killed.

The $64 question appears to be: Do U.S. Azeras use EXACTLY the same reflector assembly as those in markets where the car is sold with HID's?

I don't know if the Azera's have the same optics as the one's overseas, but the US versions do come stock with 55W halogens in both the high and low beams. They can get away with this because of the cutoff shield built into the low beam housing. This shield makes driving with 55W low beams safe and legal, so the same should be true with HID's. I have put HID's in my fogs and low beams. The only time I get flashed is on back country roads with my fogs on. Turn the fogs off and Presto, no more getting flashed by oncoming traffic.

Thanks for the input, V.

Pardon my ignorance, but is 55W an unusually high wattage for low beams? A little googling suggests that 55 is completely average. In your view, what does this wattage signify?

I thought so, until I bought my Azera. Any other vehicle I've had before had 35W lows and 55W highs. Like I said before, it has to be because of the cutoff shield. I have a Tiburon with 35W in the low beams and it is hard to see at night. The extra wattage definately helps with night time vision. Put in a set of 35W HID's and the light output doubles over the 55W halogens.

That'd be news to me. Fog lights are usually a 35 watt bulb. I've never seen a 35watt headlamp. 55 watt has been a pretty standard number for low beams. All my previous cars that bulbs instead of the old style sealed units were 55 watt.

My bad, some of the previous vehicles I've had were one's with the 9004 headlights. They are 45W lows and 65W highs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

I don't think it's watts you're concerned about as much as lumens.
Watts is the amount of current a device uses. Lumens is how bright a lamp is.
Different type of lights have more (or less) lumens per watt.
