I'm having the same trouble where my input speed sensor went bad. Or at least that's the code that came up. I bought a new one to replace it myself. Only problem is, I can't locate it to change it out.

I've found the Output Speed Sensor and called a Hyundai technician at the dealer. He said it was on the same 'line' as the Output sensor, but all I found was the Pulse Generator.

Does anyone have a diagram or could tell me where the Input sensor is in relation to the Output. I looked through hmaservice and couldn't find anything except schematics.

Thanks in advance,
-locke

Well, I found something that may help if anyone else runs into this problem. It's Technical Service Bulletin #01-40-005

The diagnostic trouble codes referenced are P0715 & P0720

Located on the Hyundai Webtech site, here is a diagram of the transmission and the location of the Output and Input Speed Sensors.

Hope this helps if you attempt to replace this component yourself.

that TSB is for the 2nd generation tranny; Your car has the 1st generation. There is a TSB for your car, which tells you to replace the PG-A & B assemby and reflash the TCM.

How do you reflash the TCM? Could this be the reason it still hits 3500 - 4000 rpm before shifting from 3rd to 4th?

oopps, sorry I misread, you have a 2001 model. This car has a 2nd generation tranny.
there is a TSB 01-40-003, which may be for your problem. A HD-dealer is the only one who can do this.
