I will be importing my 2008 Elantra SE to Canada within the next few months, and I have learned that I will need to have DRL's enabled to register the car.

Since both Canadian and US Hyundai's are built in Korea, is the US market Hyundai already pre-wired for DRL's? Do I only need to buy a module and "plug n play" so to speak.

Any info, on how I can get DRL's to work would be great. I don't want all the lights to be on, i.e. dash, rear, side markers. Just low intensity high or low beam headlights.

Thanks :liebe011:

I posted this on another topic, but here it is again. You can get one of these devices and install it yourself Daytime Running Lights or Daytime Running Lights: Reduced Intensity. I was looking around and found it. I dont know how much of a help it will be but it might save you some money.

Thanks, I've run into those posts as well.

There is another poster who has been helpful with basically a walkthrough using a similar drl module as you posted. I think i'm going to go with a Hamsar 45035 which is more expensive, but their tech support so far to help identify which module would work has been fantastic.

There are so many Canadian references to DRL and other things on the US spec cars that it seems like it would be a no brainer just to equipt the US ones with the DRLs or at least make it pre-wired.. I hate to have to tap into the cars wiring ..

Whenever i get it done (its getting cold out now so i might take a while) , but i'll post how i did it so maybe it will help someone else looking for DRL's in the US hyundai elantra :)
