Hey there from Denmark :-)
I just got myself a Getz 1,3 from 2005.

My problem is, that no matter how hard I try to get a reasonably fuel effeciency, it fails completly. at 110km/h it says about 12,5km / L - not much if you ask me.

I have been in contact with another getz owner (1.6). He has improved the car with OBD optimising with a promising result.

What do you recommend I can do to get a better km / L ratio ?

Hello,

If my geography is correct, you don't have much hills, so your MPGs are worrying. 8 L/100 km (29.4mpg) is not very good mileage. I'm getting 6.7 L/100 km with my 2002 1.3 Getz. Although it hasn't been modified, I'm doing regular checks like tires, oil and filters. Here's some stuff I've been doing with my Lantra . I hope you'll find some useful hints there regarding tires, oil, petrol etc. Our Getz is easily getting 6.7l/100km=~15km/L=35mpg so you should too.

cheers

first of all as marek46 said check your fluids and filters. i notice that when im running low on oil i get much worse milage. all that stuff aside u can always use a drop in air filter from simota or k&n or if u like noise u can always hook up a short ram with a heat sheilded open filter(it costs more but is well worth it) which also can be hooked up with a cold air hose for more power and gas saving i get about 460-480km on one tank of gas driving mostly on the highway. also with the pre f/l models if you rev hard you waste a rediculous amount of gas so easy on the throttle. good luck and if you need something else feel free to ask.

good luck and sorry for the lenth of the reply
