For my first winter with the Sonata I can say it held up nicely in the snow.

On average my miles per gallon was close to 19 mpg. My driving is about 25% suburbs (city) (Arlington, VA if your familiar with DC Metro Area). The heater gets very warm, and the heated seats are great with leather.

For 1 year, from February 2008 to February 2009, my average was 27.33 MPG.. (V6).. then again, I drive all highway and no more than 70 MPH on cruise control... so far this year (February - present) I am averaging about 27.2 MPG, and we haven't even hit the warm weather months yet when the mileage REALLY goes up...

woohoo...

I'm very happy for you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grouphug.gif)

BTW I can do that + in my I4 doing 85. Beat that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

You know, it's too bad more don't post their results. Those wanting to own a quality preowned Sonata can benefit here.

Well, I own a 2008 Sonata SE V6 and I have been averaging 20.2 mpg since the beginning of the year. I drive 95% city, so I'm pretty happy with my results. However:

We just took a trip from Wilmington, DE to Salvo, NC (Outer Banks). I filled up my car before we left and drove to NC with 1/4 tank left to drive around on. I filled up a few days after we arrived and these were my results: 421.7 miles, averaged 47 mph and my trip meter read 27.3 mpg for trip. The actual mpg for the trip down was 27.59.

The return trip: so I drove around NC for a few more days and then we left on Friday evening around 10:30 PM. The results made me very happy: 427 miles, 48 mph average and the trip meter read 30.1 mpg. My actual mpg for the trip home was 29.87!

Overall I was very happy with the results. The Sonata is a wonderful car for long trips. It's very comfortable, you can fit anything you want to bring with you, and you can achieve excellent mpg's with sane driving.

Driving habits: I saw very few lights on these trips, especially driving home in the middle of the night. I accelerated lightly from any stops ( not quite grandpa style) and set the cruise control at 5 mph over whatever the speed limit was.

Mine is a 2.0 I4 (not available in the US), I'm getting ~ 22.8 MPG (10.3 L/100km) for the last ~ 16 months, covering 25k km (~ 15k miles). I don't drive it and don't push the car, how wish I can get similar mileage like yours

I don't drive hard... Very light on the accelerator usually don't go over 2500 rpm, unless merging or otherwise needed.

I go by the computer, don't have time to manually go through and calculate everything...

Winter mixed: 19-21
Winter highway: 22-23 @ 70
Summer mixed 21-22
Summer highway 28-33 @ 70 no a/c

There is a long stretch of road (approx 20 miles) that is 50 limit that I travel (If I reset the mpg counter) I get 27-39 depend on lights and traffic @ 50

I also hyper mile to improve gas mileage, if you see a red up ahead slow down until it turns green.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) Thanks for the input! I'm glad you can contribute here. You know manual calcs only take a few extra minutes.

something doesnt add up.. you only notice a 1-2 MPG difference in mixed driving in Winter v. Summer, but you are showing a 6-10 MPG difference in Highway driving in Winter v. Summer?

highway driving at 70 should not give you 22-23 even in the winter (i drive all highway at about 68-70 year round)... i would say 24-26 in the winter and 28-30 in the summer (even with the a/c on - a/c doesnt give too much of a hit to mileage).. MIXED driving i would think would give you the higher sway....

oh, and slowing down before a red light and rolling to a green is not "hyper miling".. that's just good driving practices..

We set the computer at zero, and then drove Sharona 800 miles in 14 hours. For the first 5 hours, the tailwind was unbelievable, and with a loaded car, AC on, and traveling 120 km/h, we got 7.4 l/100. By the end of the day, it was reading 7.8. Not bad at all! On the way back, with a headwind, same speed, heavy rain at times, we got home with a reading of 8.4. You do the math, I'm too drunk right now.

I trust my trip computer like Apollo 11 trusted theirs!!!! It's just that accurate. Or was it Apollo 13's????

We had some biker relatives down for a HOG rally, and they bought beer. Blecky Budweiser. The wife wanted the remnants out of the fridge, so I had to drink TWO of them in one day. Hence the drunken stupor. You figure out the mileage. Worked out to two tanks for 800 miles, give or take!

Sooooo that would be 400 miles per tank, eh? Don't have to be drunk to not figure that out!

I have a 2006 3.3 V6 with a k&n filter.

I live in North GA, not too far from Athens, so it's definitely not flat country.

I don't race around everywhere, but I do lay the rubber down from time to time.
My mileage is probably split about 60 city/40 highway.

Running 93 octave, I average 26.0 mpg

When I drive up to Bristol TN to visit family, I average 31.0 mpg. Keep in mind that's almost all highway miles. On the way back from TN I usually get around 33.0 to 34.0 mpg. The only difference between the two is that I'm going downhill most of the way back.

On the highways, I'll go about 5-10 mph over if traffic permits.
I always turn off my ESC, unless it's raining.
Also, I'm using a k&n filter.
