Anyone Using Synthetic Oil?, true synthetic, like Mobil 1

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 10 Joined: 16-May 07 Member No.: 30,673 Status: Location: Chicago, IL USA Drives: 2000 Hyundai Elantra	curious what real-world results my fellow 2000 Elantra drivers have had with synthetic oil. I'm due for an oil change (56K miles currently) and am getting tempted by all the Mobil 1 propaganda. They even sell a 0W-30 synthetic for enhanced "Fuel Economy". What you say good or bad about synthetic I wonder.

I was using Castrol 15W40 and it was a bad idea - revving the engine up was much slower. Sorry, don't have any experience with Mobil 1 brand but if it is full synth I think it should be ok. I was also skeptical about Agip, but now I'm not. Full synth it is! cheers

I'm typing this from the lobby of my dealer right now, they are putting in Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w-20 and a Mobil 1 filter (nice sale at autozone this week, $17 off the combo). So I'll update with how it goes!!

Never had a problem with any of my cars. I change the oil and filter regularly at 6000 miles; never had a problem with engine wear. I've heard that fully synth can leak from the oil seals on older cars.
