Since I do quite a bit of highway driving the front hood is taken a pounding (slight chips). Has anyone installed the stock hood deflector...if so I heard that you have to stick plastic protectors to the hood...not crazy about that... have not seen one so I don't know if that's true. Also, is it an easy install.

Thanks in advance for you help,
Rick

I purchased the clear model from Auto Vent Shades (AVS). PepBoys had to special order it. Installation was a snap - only issue was one of the holes didn't match up and I had to dremel the hole in the deflector.

We have the dealer-supplied deflector and it looks great. It does have a couple of rubber protectors stuck on the hood, but this is essential. Any deflector will vibrate at highway speeds (even though you can't see it moving), and this will eventually drill right through the paint. Removing the protectors is not necessary, but could probably be done anyway with solvent... which is much more than I can say for paint damage :)

I went with a 3M clear bra protective film, guy covered about 6-8 inches of hood and back of my mirrors for about 150 bucks. Cant even see it unless your looking.
