I have a 2001 Elantra with 134K miles.
I need to change the drivers front wheel bearing.
I have the hub out and have pushed out drive axle and have pushed out the part the holds the rotor and wheel on. The bearing is in half now and I have having trouble getting therest bearing out of the hub.
I have the ring off too.

Any ideas? I have been heating and pounding?

Thanks

the old bearing needs to be pressed out on a hydrolic press and the new one pressed in the same way, you could ask in some local car repair shops if they will do it for you

Now the guy at the shop says the retaining ring is too thick. He will try to sand it and see how it goes.

Keep ya posted.

An update
I had to go with the Bearing made in Korea, Chine one too long. Could not fit retaining clip in. I am happy I was able to get my $$ back BUT in the end the Korea bearing was around $70.

I put it all back in and noise is gone :460:
