Hello there "logan";

:00000732: to Hyundai Forums;
Enjoy!!!

Could you inform us on the latest maintenance on this tranny?
Fluid changed when?, filter changed when? Milleage on the tranny?

Sometimes a very low fluid level will cause this!
Also; is the "Check Engine Light" on?
Have you tryed going forward in 1st gear instead of "D" (drive)?

Let us know more on this.

I am studying front wheel drive automatic transmission at a local independant training facility, and would like to help you as best as I can.

Well , thank u for answer so fast,and i check fluid levels, and as far as i know i never did any p.m. in the tranny; milage is close to 90000, and i tried D, 1,2 and L and just reverse is the one that works, wonder if is just a matter of new fluid or probably a sensor, cause when i bought it , around year ago, i had a problem with shifting, it was running only in hi, u know, taking off in hi, tried to shifting in low but nothing happens. All of the sudden start working fine, I parked my car in the garage and the next day working" fine", of course same problem always ,got to stop sign and wnna go right away and hardly shifting down, untill now. I hope that will give you an idea on what's going on. Thank u once again!!!!

Hello again "logan";

OK! So, This is a used 2002 that you purchased in 2007 and it now has 90000 miles on it.
You did not have any maitenance perform on the tranny itself.
When you bought it, you say that you had intermitent shiffting problem that went away and now the shiffting problems are back.
If I was you, I would first do a total fluid exchange and a filter change. Would probably be good to drop in a tranny flushing fluid before the ATF exchange. As the new fluid is put in the tranny, I would also use an ATF conditionner to help your wore out seals in the hydraulic valve body. That is the cheaper way to start.
If this does not do the trick, tranny shop for a hydraulic flush of the hydraulic valve body and most likely a rebuilt of the valve body.
Don't forget that if the fluid still looks good right now, it is most likely that whoever sold you the car, changed the ATF before you bought the car.
Hope this help, let us know how you ended up fixing your problems.
