This is my first time owning anything that didn't have some form of a contained trunk. Since I'm just a bacholer, I can't exactly fill the rear storage area of the Santa Fe. As a result, my groceries end up rolling around if I store them back there. I am left with putting them on the rear seat, and hoping they don't fall off.

Is there an easy way to secure items in the back such as luggage, boxes, or groceries?

Plumber's putty. :whistling:

(Hyundai does make a cargo net for the Santa Fe. You might want to look at one of them.)

Get the cargo net, they can be found online and at the stealership.
They strap down in four corners and hold your items pretty well.

I have the flat cargo net and it doesn't really help with paper bags of groceries. There is another type that hangs. The slippery plastic liner doesn't help at all. That said, I haven't had too much of an issue with the bags sliding around. My cargo area is empty usually.

Do you have a 5-seater? The in-floor storage bin is great. For smaller loads I just stand up the tool bin cover and use it as a wedge to keep the bags in place near the tailgate. It's not elegant, but neither is a big aftermarket bin that has to be removed every time you want to get under it. Such hardship

That trunk organizer looks pretty sweet. I think I might pickup two of them.

Someone mentioned getting the netting. Does the santy come with anchor hooks to secure those trunk organizers?

I completely forgot about the in-floor storage bin as well.. I'll give it a shot.

Thanks!

Yes, there are four connectors in the cargo area floor.

Whenever we've got anything loose in the back that can move around, we place it in a smaller rubbermaid container. We usually always have one behind the rear seat to put stuff in just to keep it from rolling around. Pretty cheap simple sollution!

A rubber mat works good to stop things from sliding around.

Have not figured out how to attach velcro to the grocery bags yet lol. I just ordered some of those collapsable containers from the container store.. as suggested earlier in this thread.

In the back of my 2008 Santa Fe Ltd, on the side "pillars", there are round hook-like things. One on each side, each about the size of a quarter. I think they are for connecting the optional trunk cover. Anyway, I hang plastic grocery bags from these. I find I can hook about 2 bags to each side. So about 4 bags total.
Plus it keeps the bags on the sides and back of the trunk area leaving lots of open room in the middle if you have other stuff in there.

I also have the cargo net and it is *really* handy too.

Reeeeper.

Hanging things off the hooks sounds like a good idea. I'll investigate those.

I just received my 2 folding trunk organizers today. They arrived just in time for a trip to the grocery store. I was very impressed. They fold down very small (like stated), and fit perfectly in the hidden cargo area. The bottoms of the organizers have velcro on them, so they did not slide around at all. Thanks salilp!

The flat, floor type net made for the Santa Fe has already been mentioned here. It is really great.

In addition to using the net, I bought 2 plastic, carry type baskets from Walmart. These are the ones that customers use if they don't plan on doing much shopping. I think Wallyworld charged me about $6 for each one.

They are perfect for putting a few grocery bags into as well as other things. Then I place them under the stretch net to keep them from sliding around. When you get to your destination, it's just a matter of carrying the baskets from the vehicle.

Most grocery stores have this style basket and many store managers will sell them. What the heck, it does have advertising on them.

We have the re-usable bags you can buy at grocery stores. When full they stand up by themselves in the trunk and don't fall over.

As a bonus it's better for the environment.
