Hey everyone. I was checking my oil yesterday and found something sitting on the flat area under my horn. It's a plastic insert/cover of some sort. I've attached some pics so that maybe someone with more knowledge about Accents could identify it. Sorry the piece is a little out of focus; it was taken with my phone.

I looked all over for anything that looked compatible under the hood, but couldn't find anything. For all I know, it doesn't even go on my car and just somehow got kicked up from the road (I do a LOT of interstate driving).

It's pretty strange. I thought it was weird that it was just laying there on top of the fender well, just below the horn. I looked around that area and couldn't see anything that fit the piece. Given that it has the "+" pegs on the back of it, it does seem to be a cover for something. There's just not much on top of where I found it to be anything too serious.

Since I'm off of work tomorrow, I might have to send the pics to my dealer and ask if they know what it is.

i found that same piece in my car a few months ago. gave up trying to find where it came from. i think it comes off the car at the port after delivery. something protective during the sea voyage. Is air conditioning charged at the factory or at the port? Looks like it would fit on the end of those tubes.

That was for the Air Conditioning piping, the ones that go into the firewall. The come with them on it so you don't get any debris or water in the system. When the A/C was installed, they just left it sitting somewhere vs. throwing it out. I know this as I installed the A/C on my car myself.

Don't worry about it, it's garbage that just got left on your car.

i was going to suggest hosing the engine down, and when something didn't work that would solve the mystery. but you may do ^ first.
