I'm new to this forum, so forgive me if I'm bringing up a topic that has been beaten to death. I did do a search and was not successful. Anyhow, I am taking over the maintenance of my sister's Elantra wagon. I change the oil regularly on my own vehicles and use an extractor to remove the oil through the dipstick tube. Fortunately, the filters on both my vehicles are accessed from the top of the engine (no need to crawl underneath the car or use jack-stands). What is the best way to remove the oil filter on this car - top or bottom?

Yes, it's on the bottom, but fairly easy to get to since it's toward the front of the car. Use a strap wrench if you need more grip on it, or one of those metal wrenches that fits on the bottom of the filter. Either one will work.

Hi. I did it often on my own SW. Bottom is best and easy to do. Just have to jack the front.
