I bought my 2008 Accent GLS back in June and was dissappointed by the 22-26 MPG I was getting. It improved just a tiny bit over time. All of the sudden my last tank averaged 32.2 MPG. It was like a switch was flipped at 3500 miles.

I have no specific driving habits. Sometimes I drive hard and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I drive to work through the center of town and other times I take the loop around.

I wasn't a believer when I read the posts that said it would get better. Yes, I was mistaken.

mine fluctuates from 30-38.9 driven exactly the same. but mostly i'm getting the low 30's. i'm switching to full synthetic mobil tomorrow (i've got 3500 miles) and i'm hopeing this will get me a little better mpg. my car seems to like the non-ethanol 89 oct. the best, so that's what i'm going to stick with for now. i wonder what i/we could get with a 6th gear. :(

I switched to AMSOIL. When I first bought the car, no complaints.

I average around 29mpg, and then I did the coolant bypass mod, and got 29mph on the first tank, and then 33mpg on the next, and then back to 29 for the rest of the tanks. It's weird because I drive the same route all the time. I think I was around the 3500 mile mark when I got the 33mpg tank. Now I got 4300 miles and I'm getting excellent mileage since it is sitting in the body shop.
