not having an armrest on the passenger seat is a good thing for when my girlfriend wants to snuggle while we takin a drive....
but yeah, i would try to sewing route, make a cover out of some fabric that is thick and durable, just so you dont have to make another one in 6 months...
start by making a pattern, take a piece of cardboard and tracing the outline of the armrest on it, cut that tracing out, then transfer that to your fabric.. just remember when you are sewing it together it will be inside-out, then after yer done sewing all yer pieces together turn it right side out and slip it on... like a fabric condom!! lol
good luck!
for all that are wondering, i took home economics in high school, so im familiar with sewing and a sewing machine... i can also cook! :w00t: (impresses the ladies!)
PS.. i would be leary of seat covers as our seats have airbags in them!! in the event or a side crash, your seat cover would restrict the airbag from deploying properly!! (just a heads up for ya!)

Uh.... Come on.. It not too hard just to lift the armrest up if she wanted to snuggle with you. Jeez, lol.
Thanks for the tips, my mother is a good sewer, she can make a really nice drapery for the living room and currently make a fabric sitting cushion for the window alcove in a master bedroom for her boss. Maybe it wouldn't be too hard for to make one for me.
My car is the basic automatic (ie: no power locks, automatic windows, etc.) I don't think the airbag for my seat doesn't come with the package.. I know of mine have 4 side airbags surrounding the car.
